HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford College senior Rachael Fitzgerald has been named to the Philadelphia Sports Information Directors Association (Philly-SIDA) Academic All-Area team for women's tennis, the organization announced in a release on Monday afternoon.
The PhillySIDA Academic All-Area team is voted on by sports information offices from 30 institutions in the Philadelphia area. To be considered, a student-athlete must be in at least their second year at their current college/university and have a 3.30 GPA or higher.
Exclusively appearing at the number one singles and doubles flights for the Fords, Fitzgerald went 12-5 in the dual season, while going an impressive 7-1 in conference play for Haverford. She picked up a major three-set victory over Lauryn Douglas of No. 37 Bethel on March 13, during the annual Spring Break Trip, before collecting a pair of victories over Centennial Conference foe Jenna Harrison of Franklin & Marshall in the regular season and postseason.
The Waterford, Va. local was ranked 20th in the ITA Atlantic South singles rankings on April 4, as well as being named Centennial Conference Player of the Week on April 22, following a 4-0 week that saw the senior collect two singles victories over Ursinus and Stevens.
Fitzgerald concluded her season at the NCAA Singles Championships in Claremont, California, as Haverford was represented in the national tournament for the third time in four seasons. She fell in the round of 32 to Ruth Hill of Trinity (Texas).
Fitzgerald's selection capped off an exciting 2025 campaign for the Haverford Women's Tennis team, which saw the squad reach the CC playoffs for the 14th time in 15 seasons.
