Athletic Facility Use Details
Most athletic facilities are available by request with an EMS reservation. Reservations must be made more than 48 hours in advance. Reservations may change at any time, including with minimal notice.
- Reservations within the GIAC/Alumni Field House must occur within the building's hours of operation. No reservations or usage may take place when the building is closed.
- Reservations are not currently required to use the Tellem Fitness Center.
- All facilities are available around varsity sport practices and competitions.
- During varsity sport practices and competitions, the facility is closed.
- Facility approval priority order:
- Major campus events
- Varsity events and practices
- Physical education classes
- Club teams
- General requests
- All facility schedules can be found on the Athletic Facility Schedule page.
- Schedules posted are the most up-to-date versions.
- Approved EMS reservations will appear on the schedule once reviewed.
- Groups listed on the schedule have priority for use of the space.
- Please respect the facilities, care for them properly, and clean up after yourself.

Athletics Facility Access
Access Eligibility
- The Gardner Center athletic facilities (Tellem Fitness Center, Gooding Arena, and GIAC Squash Courts) are open to Haverford College and Bryn Mawr College students, faculty, and staff as well as alumni, friends of the college and approved employee family members.
- All individuals must present a college-issued ID card when entering the Gardner Center.
New Access Card System
- Haverford College has implemented a new access card system for the GIAC and the Fitness Center.
- Alumni/Friends of the College access cards expired June 30, 2025 and are no longer valid.
- New access cards are available beginning July 1, 2025.
How to Obtain a New Access Card
Card Pickup Information
- New cards can be picked up at Campus Safety the next business day after the request is completed.
- Hours: 8 a.m.–5 p.m., Monday–Friday.
- A new photo will be taken at pickup.

Fitness Center / Strength and Conditioning Policies
- All Gardner Center policies apply.
- The fitness center is only open during posted hours of operation.
- Please refer to the Fitness Center Schedule for availability.
- Use of the Tellem Fitness Center is a privilege—please respect the space and other users.

Alumni Usage Policies
- The Arn '76 and Nancy Tellem Fitness Center is open for usage by alumni and family of Haverford College employees.
- All alumni and family members must follow the same GIAC & Tellem Fitness Center policies as students.
Alumni Field House Policies
- Reservations for the Alumni Field House are available through EMS.
- Please do not book the entire field house without prior approvals.
- Groups may book individual tennis courts when using all courts.
- Reservations must be made more than 48 hours in advance.
- Reservations may change at any time, including with minimal notice.
- Reservations must occur within GIAC hours of operation; no usage is permitted when the building is closed.
- No food, smoking, gum, or drinks (other than water) are allowed in the Field House.
- Vehicles must park in the South Parking Lot only.
- A Haverford-issued ID must be used to enter the building.
- Haverford College equipment must be returned to its original location.
- All floor tape used on the track or tennis courts must be approved by Von Howard-Battiste.
Track & Field Policies
- Only indoor shots are permitted in the Field House. Steel shots, discus, and javelin are not allowed.
- Track spikes are not permitted on the tennis court surface.
- No usage is permitted during practice times.

External Rental Policies
- All outside groups must contact:
- Dates and times are available on a limited basis.
- External rentals are extremely limited during the academic year; break periods are evaluated case by case.
- Rentals may change at any time with limited notice based on weather, scheduling changes, or college needs.
- Without approval from both offices, outside groups are not permitted in any athletic facility.

- All rentals are subject to fees, contracts, requirements, and staffing needs.
