Niki Lavu Picks Up Philly-SIDA Honors

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford senior men's tennis standout Niki Lavu has been named to the 2025-2026 Philadelphia Sports Information Directors Association (Philly-SIDA) Academic All-Area Men's Tennis Team, as announced by the organization Monday morning.

The Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area Team is voted on by sports information offices from 30 institutions in the Philadelphia region. To be eligible, student-athletes must be in at least their second year at their current college or university and hold a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher.

Lavu closed out his senior campaign with All-Centennial Conference First Team singles recognition after pacing the Fords with 13 singles victories. The Bryn Mawr, Pa. native compiled a 4-1 record in Centennial Conference play while splitting time between the top two positions in the lineup, going 7-5 at No. 1 singles and 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Among his highlights were straight-set victories over regionally ranked opponents Max-William Kanz of Stevens and Luke Brodsky of Franklin & Marshall, while he also earned a three-set triumph against Carnegie Mellon's Diogo Tinoco. Lavu played a key role in helping Haverford reach its second consecutive Centennial Conference Championship match and added nine doubles victories during the spring season while competing with multiple partners.

Joining Lavu on the 2026 Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area Men's Tennis Team are Noah Cutting of Chestnut Hill, Manfredi Graziani and Aaron Sandler of Penn, and Utham Koduri and Michael Melnikov of Swarthmore. Melnikov was also selected as the PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Men's Tennis Performer of the Year.
