Haverford, Pa. – The Haverford College baseball team placed three players on the All-Centennial Conference teams, highlighted by the Pitcher of the Year Award, which was awarded to senior Sam Cohen. The conference office announced the honors in a release on Thursday morning.
Cohen anchors both the major award winners and the All-Conference First Team after a dominant spring on the mound. The senior posted a 5-3 record across 10 starts with a 4.45 ERA and 1.43 WHIP, striking out a conference-best 65 batters over 54.2 innings. He ranked first in the Centennial in strikeouts and strikeouts looking (24), while also finishing sixth in innings pitched and eighth in ERA. The Ellicott City, Md. product capped his season in emphatic fashion with a complete-game shutout against Dickinson (4/26), tossing 9.0 innings while allowing just five hits and striking out a season-high 10. Cohen's consistency atop the rotation proved critical throughout conference play, as he limited opponents to four hits or fewer in multiple outings, including a six-inning, scoreless performance against Ursinus (4/17).
Joining Cohen on the All-Centennial First Team is sophomore third baseman Miles Prusek, who emerged as one of the league's most complete offensive players. Prusek led Haverford in hits (53) and tied for the team lead in runs scored (36), while also pacing the Fords in doubles (14, tied for first on the team). He finished second on the roster in home runs (8), RBI (39), batting average (.379), and OPS (1.158), anchoring the middle of the lineup with consistent production throughout the season. Across the Centennial Conference, Prusek ranked ninth in slugging percentage (.679) and in doubles, giving Haverford two of its most reliable middle-of-the-order bats. The Richmond, Va. native delivered several clutch performances throughout the season, including a 5-RBI day against Dickinson (4/26) and five three-hit games, highlighted by a three-hit, four-RBI performance against Washington College (4/18), while maintaining a .928 fielding percentage at the hot corner.
Senior first baseman Mauro DeCillis earned Honorable Mention recognition following a highly efficient and record-setting season at the plate. DeCillis matched Prusek with a .379 batting average while leading the Fords with a .562 on-base percentage, which ranked second in the Centennial Conference and 15th nationally. He recorded 39 hits, 28 walks, and 15 hit-by-pitches while adding four home runs and 20 RBI, consistently serving as Haverford's table-setter from the top of the lineup across 35+ games. He also led the Centennial Conference and tied for second in the nation with 42 stolen bases, breaking the Haverford College single-season stolen base record. The Bronxville, N.Y. native also tied for the team lead and ranked third in the conference with seven sacrifice bunts, further showcasing his versatility. DeCillis delivered several signature performances, including a standout outing at Muhlenberg (4/7), where he went 2-for-4 with two runs scored while repeatedly pressuring the defense with his speed. He followed that with a historic doubleheader against Dickinson (4/26), going 4-for-8 with four runs scored, three RBI, and two home runs, while stealing four bases to set the program's single-season stolen base record.
Rounding out Haverford's honorees, senior Aidan O'Sullivan was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team. O'Sullivan made 12 appearances on the mound, totaling 9.1 innings with nine strikeouts, while serving as a steady presence out of the bullpen for the Fords.
The Centennial Conference award winners included McDaniel's Shane Daly being named Player of the Year, Washington College's Brett Connolly selected as Rookie of the Year, McDaniel's Thomas Mezzullo earning Gold Glove of the Year recognition, and McDaniel's coaching staff being named Coaching Staff of the Year following a standout season across the league. They joined Haverford's Cohen, who earned Pitcher of the Year honors.
