GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Haverford College men's track & field team concluded the Centennial Conference Championships at Gettysburg on Sunday, finishing fifth overall with 78 total points and collecting four additional medals on the final day, highlighted by a gold in the 110-meter hurdles from Samuel Lin.
By virtue of men's track & field finishing above ninth-place Swarthmore (28.5 points), Haverford clinched the 2025-26 Hood Trophy all-sports rivalry series by a 9.5 to 8.5 total score.
The Fords' strongest moment came in the 110-meter hurdles, where Samuel Lin captured the Centennial Conference title in 15.28 to earn 10 points. Ian Lihani also scored in the event, finishing fifth in 15.70. Lihani added another scoring performance later in the day in the 400-meter hurdles, placing seventh in 1:00.89.
Haverford added a pair of additional medals in the middle distance flights, field events, and sprints. Thomas Fendig earned bronze in the 400 meters, finishing in 49.36 to cap a strong sophomore campaign. Senior Jory Lee followed up his silver in the long jump on Saturday with another standout performance in the triple jump, placing second with a mark of 13.96 meters (45 feet, 9.75 inches), which matched Ravi Eaton '24 for the fourth-best mark in program history and added eight points to the team total.
In the middle distance events, rookie Simon Lane led a strong showing in the 1,500 meters, placing second in 3:52.52 for eight points. Micah Lachman also scored in the event, finishing seventh in 3:57.66. Lane later added another scoring finish in the 800 meters, taking seventh in 1:58.03.
A large contingent competed in the 5,000 meters, with Owen Bluman (15:03.64) and Cole Branstrom (15:04.79) both scoring in sixth and seventh, respectively. Jakob Maiwald finished 18th in 15:37.72, followed by Torin Pelton-Flavin in 19th (15:40.19) and Wade Garoutte in 21st (15:48.88).
In relay action, the 4x100-meter team of Zenas Boamah, Derek Linden, Mark Tringas and Jonah Hoffmann-Weitsman opened the day with a sixth-place finish in 45.39, adding three points. The 4x400-meter relay of Nico Greene, Josue Laurore, Lane and Fendig closed the meet with a seventh-place finish in 3:28.79 to add two more points.
Jason Mayo narrowly missed scoring in the javelin, finishing 10th with a throw of 48.77 meters (160 feet) following his strong decathlon performance over the first two days. The mark was a personal best and extended his place in the Haverford program top 10, where he currently ranks ninth.
Johns Hopkins (230 points) finished ahead of Ursinus (132.5 points) and Dickinson (132 points) to claim the Centennial Conference championship title.
The Fords will now have one last chance to qualify athletes for the 2026 NCAA Division III Championships, heading to the Widener Last Chance Meet on Monday, May 11. The top 20 declared athletes in individual events and the top 12 relay teams on the final national descending order lists will be selected to compete at the NCAA Championships.
