HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford College men's track & field first-year Simon Lane will continue his 2026 outdoor season at the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which will be held May 21-23 at the Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex in La Crosse, Wisconsin, on the campus of UW-La Crosse.
The top 22 declared student-athletes in each men's individual event qualified for the competition. The complete list of qualifiers is available here.
Lane will compete in the 1,500 meters. Semifinal (preliminary) action is slated for Thursday, May 21 at 4:50 p.m. CT, with the finals slated for Saturday, May 23 at 1:35 p.m. CT. Each semifinal will consist of 11 entrants, while the final will include 12 total competitors—the top four from each semifinal heat plus the next best four times.
The Chicago product earned his qualifying mark at the Widener Final Qualifier in Chester earlier this week, posting a 3:48.09, a new personal best for the rookie. That performance eventually added outdoor NCAA qualification to his cross country nationals qualification in the fall, as well as his appearance at the indoor championships in March as part of Haverford's record-breaking DMR squad.
Lane put together a standout 2026 campaign, emerging as one of the most decorated distance performers in the Centennial Conference and the Metro Region. He earned First-team All-Centennial Conference honors in both the 3,000 meters and the distance medley relay during the indoor season, along with Second-team All-Conference recognition in the 1,500 meters during the outdoor season. Lane also picked up USTFCCCA All-Metro Region honors in the mile, 3,000 meters, and DMR indoors. Along the way, he was twice named Centennial Conference Track Athlete of the Week (January 20 and April 7).
