Lee Earns Haverford Top 10 as Men's Track & Field Competes at Widener Final Qualifier

CHESTER, Pa. — The Haverford College men's track & field team competed at the Widener Final Qualifier Meet on Monday afternoon at Leslie Quick Jr. Stadium, as several Fords turned in strong performances during one final opportunity to post qualifying marks and national-caliber times.

First-year Simon Lane highlighted the track events with a standout effort in the 1,500 meters, placing seventh overall in 3:48.09, a new personal best. The mark moved Lane to No. 15 in Division III during the 2026 outdoor season and paced the Fords in a competitive field. Senior Micah Lachman followed with a 24th-place finish in 3:53.93, also a new personal best, while junior Owen Bluman crossed in 3:59.16.

Senior Jory Lee continued his outstanding outdoor campaign in the triple jump, placing fifth overall with a leap of 14.41 meters (47 feet, 3.5 inches). The mark ranks No. 31 in Division III this season and added another strong result to Lee's standout year in the jumps, as the senior now ranks second all-time in Haverford history in the triple jump.

Sophomore Thomas Fendig delivered a top-10 finish in the 400 meters, placing eighth overall with a time of 48.90 out of the second heat. In the 800 meters, sophomore Reef Kirchner posted a time of 1:57.58 to finish 61st overall, while first-year Wyatt Grace completed the event in 2:00.42, a new personal best.

In the javelin throw, senior Jason Mayo recorded a toss of 47.46 meters (155 feet, 8 inches) to finish ninth overall.

Senior Jonah Hoffman-Weitsman represented the Fords in both sprint events, clocking a time of 12.11 seconds in the 100-meter preliminaries before returning in the 200 meters to finish in 24.71 seconds.

Haverford will now await the announcement of NCAA qualifiers for the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday, with competition set to take place from May 21-24 at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex in La Crosse, Wis. First-year Simon Lane is in strong contention to qualify for the national meet following his excellent performance in the 1,500 meters.
