CHESTER, Pa. – The Haverford College men's track and field team competed at the Paul Donahue Invitational on Saturday at Widener University, turning in a strong overall showing.
In the sprints, Samuel Lin finished 60th in the 100 meters in 11.84 seconds, followed by Jason Mayo in 11.90 seconds. In the 110 meter hurdles, Ian Lihani placed 13th in 15.81 seconds and Alex Geng finished 25th in 17.01 seconds.
Thomas Fendig led the Fords in the 400 meters, placing 13th overall in 48.80 seconds. In the 400-meter hurdles, Nico Greene finished 22nd in 57.72 seconds, followed by Josue Laurore in 58.87 seconds and Lihani in 59.65 seconds.
In the 800 meters, Simon Lane placed second overall in one of the fastes times in the Centennial this season at 1:53.20, while Reef Kirchner finished 11th in 1:55.04. Wyatt Grace ran 4:10.55 in the 1500 meters to place 49th, and Deven Abrams took 11th in the 3000-meter steeplechase in 10:24.28.
In the field events, Jory Lee led Haverford in the jumps, placing ninth in the long jump with a outdoor personal-best mark of 6.53 meters (21 feet, 5.25 inches), one day after finishing fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 13.57 meters (44 feet, 6.25 inches) to log yet another new top 10 in program outdoor history. Mark Tringas finished 15th in the long jump at 6.30 meters (20 feet, 8.00 inches), and Peter Beredjiklian placed 39th at 5.27 meters (17 feet, 3.50 inches)
Jason Mayo added a 17th-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 47.94 meters (157 feet, 3 inches), Haverford also competed in both relay events, placing 12th in the 4x100-meter relay in 44.17 seconds with Zenas Boamah, Derek Linden, Mark Tringas and Jonah Hoffmann-Weitsman, and 12th in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:24.69 with the grouping of Greene, Laurore, Lihani and Fendig.
Men's Track & Field will next be in action on Tuesday, hosting the Annual Midweek Tri-Meet at Johnson Track. Action is slated to begin to begin at 3:30 p.m.Â
