CHESTER, Pa. — The Haverford College men's track & field team turned in a strong showing at the Paul Donahue Invitational on Friday evening, highlighted by a pair of top-three finishes in the 5,000 meters, a standout performance in the elite mile, and a new program top-10 in the triple jump.
Owen Bluman led the way in the 5,000 meters, crossing third overall in 14:39.68, a new personal best that ranks among the top times in Division III this season. Close behind, first-year Cole Branstrom delivered an impressive personal best of his own, placing fifth in 14:44.79. Luke de Valpine added an 11th-place showing in 14:53.64, while senior Jakob Maiwald crossed 32nd overall in 15:16.39. Junior Torin Pelton-Flavin placed 46th with a new personal best time of 15:24.32, with first-year Wade Garoutte finishing 60th in 15:36.47. Additional Haverford finishers included first-year Jack McCurry (84th, 15:54.46, new personal best), first-year Gabriel Bernstein (92nd, 16:03.27, new personal best), junior Gopal Patel (97th, 16:13.22, new personal), and first-year Liam Deimler (99th, 16:17.91).
In the elite mile, senior Micah Lachman turned in a strong race against a predominantly Division I field, finishing 15th overall in 4:12.21.
Haverford also saw action in the field events, where senior Jory Lee posted a fourth-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 13.57 meters (44 feet, 6.25 inches), securing eighth all-time in Haverford history. First-year Kyler Lee competed in the shot put, recording a throw of 10.73 meters (35 feet, 2.5 inches).
The Fords will continue competition at the Paul Donahue Invitational on Saturday, April 18, with events beginning at 10:00 a.m.
