MEDFORD, Mass. — The Haverford College men's indoor track and field team competed in two events at the Tufts National Qualifying Meet on Saturday afternoon, as Jory Lee participated in the triple jump and the quartet of Micah Lachman, Thomas Fendig, Reef Kirchner, and Simon Lane ran in the distance medley relay, breaking a 15-year-old school record.
It was an exciting distance medley relay for the Fords, as the team of Lachman, Fendig, Kirchner, and Lane took fifth place with a blazing time of 9:53.34 to break the Haverford College program record. The mark surpassed the previous best time of 9:56.01 set by Eric Arnold, Andrew Golato, Tim Schoch, and Ivo Milic-Strkalj on February 19, 2011.
Lee then competed in the triple jump for the Fords, earning first place overall in the event with a distance of 14.30 meters (46 feet, 11 inches).
With some results from final qualifying meets across the nation still to come, Haverford now looks ahead to tomorrow's announcement of the NCAA Division III National Championship qualifiers at 7 p.m.
Currently, the distance medley relay ranks eighth in the nation, while Lee sits 19th in the triple jump.
The championships will begin Friday, March 13, in Birmingham, Alabama. For the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships, the top 20 declared student-athletes in each individual event and the top 12 declared relay teams (limited to one per institution) will be accepted into the championship field.
