NEW ORLEANS - The Haverford College men's track & field team earned a strong showing on the postseason awards list as eight Fords combined for 13 United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region certificates, the organization announced in a release on Wednesday afternoon.
To be named to the all-region team, the top eight individuals in each event from each region on the year-end Descending Order Lists earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top eight relay teams. The regions used for this award – East, Great Lakes, Metro, Mid-Atlantic, Mideast, Midwest, Niagara, North, South, and West – match those used during the cross country season.
Haverford placed a strong contingent on the All-Metro Region team, led by Micah Lachman and Simon Lane, who each earned three All-Region selections in the distance medley relay (DMR), mile, and 3,000 meters. Owen Bluman also picked up multiple honors, earning All-Region recognition in both the mile and 3,000 meters.
Additional All-Region selections included Cole Branstrom in the 3,000 meters, Luke De Valpine in the 5,000 meters, and Jory Lee in the triple jump, while Thomas Fendig and Reef Kirchner also earned recognition as members of the Fords' distance medley relay squad.
The DMR contingent, as well as Lee, will compete at this weekend's NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, with action opening on Friday with the DMR at 7:30 p.m. ET while Lee gets going early Saturday afternoon at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama.
