HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's basketball team placed two student-athletes on the All-Centennial Conference teams, as junior Audrey Jakway earned second-team All-Centennial Conference honors while senior Caroline Orza was named honorable mention All-Centennial Conference. Additionally, Brianna Feifer represented the Fords on the Centennial Conference Sportsmanship Team.
Jakway established herself as one of the league's most dominant interior players during her junior campaign. She anchored Haverford to a national ranking of 33rd in blocks per game (4.5) while ranking 31st in the nation in rebounds per game (11.1) and 17th in offensive rebounds per game (8.2). Starting 24 of 25 games, the Saint Paul, Minn. product averaged 15.3 points per contest, fifth in the Centennial Conference, and a team-best 11.1 rebounds per game, which ranked second in the league. She shot 40.9 percent from the field and led the Fords in field goals made and attempted, total rebounds (265), defensive rebounds and blocks (43). Jakway finished with 12 double-doubles on the season.
Her year was highlighted by a school-record 42-point performance on 17 field goals against Elizabethtown (Nov. 15), adding 16 rebounds in a dominant showing. She tallied 33 points with five three-pointers and a perfect 4-for-4 effort at the free-throw line against Ursinus (Jan. 14) and grabbed a season-best 21 rebounds versus Swarthmore (Feb. 4). Jakway also posted 20-point, 15-rebound efforts against Keystone (Nov. 8) and added 20 points with 13 rebounds against Muhlenberg (Dec. 6).
Orza garnered honorable mention All-Centennial recognition following a standout senior season. Starting all 25 games, she averaged 17.0 points per game, second in the Centennial Conference, while adding 7.9 rebounds per contest. She shot 40.8 percent from the field and 73.3 percent from the free-throw line. A Chevy Chase, Md. native, Orza led the team in scoring and finished sixth in the conference with 49 three-point field goals made. She also ranked fifth in the CC in free throws made (88) and attempted (120) and sixth in offensive rebounds (70). She recorded 10 double-doubles and averaged 1.8 assists and 1.8 steals per game.
Her season included a 33-point performance against Keystone (Nov. 8), shooting 6-for-10 from beyond the arc. She registered a 24-point, 11-rebound double-double against Rutgers-Camden (Nov. 11) and scored 27 points with four three-pointers in a 48-minute contest against Elizabethtown (Nov. 15). Orza added 25 points against Curry (Dec. 30) and posted double-doubles against Bryn Mawr (Jan. 10) and Franklin & Marshall (Jan. 7).
Feifer, a team captain, was named to the Centennial Conference Sportsmanship Team after starting and appearing in 24 games during her senior season. She averaged 9.6 points and 5.2 rebounds per game while leading the team with 1.4 blocks per contest. Feifer also contributed 1.8 assists and 1.8 steals per game.
She shot 9-for-11 from the field for a season-high 22 points against Penn State Berks (Dec. 11) and recorded a 15-point, 10-rebound double-double versus Keystone (Nov. 8). Feifer scored 18 points against Neumann (Nov. 18), swatted a season-best four blocks against Muhlenberg (Dec. 6) and collected four steals versus Curry (Dec. 30).
Elaina Beckett, a senior guard/forward from McDaniel, was named Centennial Conference Player of the Year. Ursinus senior guard Ava Possenti earned Defensive Player of the Year honors, while Johns Hopkins freshman center Jocelyn Goldstein was selected as Rookie of the Year. The Johns Hopkins coaching staff was voted Coaching Staff of the Year after leading the squad to an undefeated regular season.
