HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College women's basketball team wrapped up the 2025-26 campaign with a hard-fought 50-45 loss to Hood Trophy rival Swarthmore (10-15, 6-9 CC) on Saturday afternoon inside Gooding '84 Arena. The Fords conclude the season with a record of 10-15 and a 2-13 ledger in Centennial Conference action.
Prior to the contest, Haverford celebrated its women's basketball Class of 2026 in a pregame ceremony as Brianna Feifer and Caroline Orza were honored for their dedication and leadership to the program.Â
Haverford was led by Audrey Jakway, who posted a double-double with 15 points and a game-high 15 rebounds while adding three blocks. Brianna Feifer contributed 14 points on an efficient 6-of-12 shooting performance, including two three-pointers, while Caroline Orza added 11 points and 10 rebounds for her own double-double.
Shae Mercer paced the Fords' playmaking effort with six assists and five rebounds, while Bri Heafey chipped in four assists. For Swarthmore College, Vianna Kanyamiheto-Watson, Catherine Chadwell, and Emy Chen each scored 10 points, with Chadwell and Samara Diggs grabbing eight rebounds apiece in the 50-45 decision.
Feifer opened the scoring off a pass from Bri Heafey for a lay-up just 68 seconds into the game. Feifer nailed the next four points for the home squad, giving the team a quick 6-0 lead. Up 6-2, Caroline Orza hit a twisting lay-up. Feifer nailed a shot from downtown with 5:08 to play and less than a minute later Heafey drilled a three-point bucket for a 14-2 margin. However, Swarthmore sliced the lead to just three at the end of the quarter, 17-14.
Heafey found Orza for an inside shot at the 9:41 mark. Down 20-19, Audrey Jakway took a pass from Georgia Koff-Gilmore for a basket before Orza's lay-up with 4:52 before half gave the Fords a 23-20 advantage. Swarthmore managed to take a 25-23 lead into intermission.
After the break, Shae Mercer drilled a jumper, knotting the score. Down 27-25, Jakway nailed a free throw with 8:22 remaining. A minute later, she buried a three-point bucket for a two-point edge, 29-27. Back-to-back three-point shots from Feifer and Jakway extended the lead to six, 35-29, with 4:12 remaining in the third quarter. Jakway netted an old-fashioned three-point play for a 38-32 margin entering the fourth.
The visitors rattled off the first eight points of the frame, and Orza's lay-up tied it at 40-40. Swarthmore scored seven straight before Orza connected on a three-point bucket with 22 ticks on the clock. Feifer made it a three-point game with 12 seconds remaining, but it was not enough.
Women's Basketball has now concluded the 2025-26 season, as the Fords will await the release of the Centennial Conference postseason honors expected to be announced early next month.
