Women’s Squash Places Four on All-Liberty League Teams

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's squash team had a strong showing in the 2025-26 Liberty League postseason awards, with multiple student-athletes recognized for their performances during a successful season.

Amy Saxon earned All-Liberty League First Team honors, while Madeline Bulbulia, Zoe Liu, and Joelle Phuah were each named to the second team.

Saxon, of Scarsdale, N.Y., was honored as a first-team selection after another standout year for the Scarlet and Black. The lone senior on a young squad, she provided a steadying presence throughout the season. She posted a 2-1 record at the Liberty League Championships, including wins over Vassar and William Smith, before adding a victory at the sixth flight against Bard at the CSA Team Championships, allowing just six total points in a three-game sweep.

Bulbulia, a rookie from Montclair, N.J., had a stellar first campaign for Haverford and was named Liberty League Rookie of the Week on Feb. 2. She delivered a clutch and consistent performance during the home opening weekend, helping then-No. 28 Haverford secure ranked victories over No. 27 William Smith and No. 31 Vassar. At the Liberty League Championships, she recorded a key five-game win over William Smith's Danie Dizart and later earned a victory at the seventh flight against Bard at the CSA Divisional Championships.

Liu, of Brooklyn, N.Y., took another step forward as a junior. After opening the season against a challenging slate, she found her rhythm with a pair of wins over Vassar's Hope Fireison at the second flight. She also earned a home victory against William Smith's Jessica Finnerty and added a win over Bard at the CSA Divisional Championships in Philadelphia.

Phuah, of Selangor, Malaysia, anchored the Fords at the top flight during her junior campaign, proving to be a difficult matchup for Liberty League opponents. She won four of her final five matches and six of her last eight overall to help propel Haverford into the postseason. A crucial victory came against Hamilton's Saris Sun on the penultimate day of the season, as Phuah outlasted her opponent in five games just hours after allowing just four total points in a sweep of Bard's Tarana Downer at the Divisional Championships.

The league's coaches recognized Charlotte Jones of Denison as Player of the Year, Eboni Atherley of St. Lawrence as Rookie of the Year, and Denison's coaching staff as Coaching Staff of the Year.

The Fords finished the season with a 7-12 overall record and climbed as high as No. 27 in the CSA national rankings, providing a strong foundation for a young roster moving forward.
