HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's track & field team tuned up with one final indoor competition before next weekend's pivotal Centennial Conference Championships, hosting the annual Keogh Invitational inside Alumni Field House on Friday evening. The Fords turned in a series of solid performances across the board, highlighted by standout efforts in the sprints, middle distances, and field events.
In the sprints, junior Zenas Boamah paced Haverford in the 60 meters, placing 12th with a time of 7.25 to crack the program's indoor top 10 and move into eighth all-time. Derek Linden followed in 25th (7.41), with Jonah Hoffmann-Weitsman (7.61) and Xan White (7.96) rounding out the Fords' entries. In the 60-meter hurdles, first-year Ian Lihani led the way with an 8.95 fifth-place finish, ahead of Alex Geng (9.41) and Jason Mayo (10.06). Geng extended his personal best, now the sixth-best mark in program history.
The 200 meters featured a large Haverford contingent, again led by Ian Lihani, who placed 22nd in 24.32. Derek Linden was 25th (24.50), followed by Josue Laurore in 29th (24.83), Hoffmann-Weitsman in 32nd (25.33), Alex Geng in 33rd (25.43), and Xan White in 39th (26.00).
Rookie Daniel Gordon led Haverford in the men's 3,000 meters with a first-place finish in 8:57.06. Junior Torin Pelton-Flavin followed closely in second at 9:00.34, while fellow first-year Wade Garoutte secured third in 9:13.31. Other Haverford finishers included sophomore Raine Guidarelli in 15th (9:31.14), senior Deven Abrams in 17th (9:39.13), and rookie Gabriel Bernstein in 20th (9:52.68).
First-year Wyatt Grace captured the Eddie Papalia ('05) Memorial 800m trophy as Haverford's top finisher in the event, clocking 2:03.26 for eighth overall. Grace led a young group that included first-years Liam Deimler (2:08.84), Garrett Miyagawa (2:16.00), and Benjamin Aaron (2:21.31), while senior Jason Mayo crossed in 2:33.05.
The mile group produced a pair of top-five finishes, with sophomore Reef Kirchner placing fourth in 4:24.38 and first-year Cole Branstrom fifth in 4:24.54. Oliver Barr added a 10th-place finish in 4:31.31, while Joseph De Rosa (4:40.57), Tate Sheehy (4:49.49), Gopal Patel (4:50.70), Jack McCurry (4:53.04), and William Gray (5:21.08) completed the mile squad's efforts.
The 4x400-meter relay squad of Grace, Barr, Branstrom, and Kirchner finished third overall in 3:40.57.
In the field events, sophomore Mark Tringas posted Haverford's top result with a sixth-place long jump of 6.37 meters (20 feet, 11 inches), while Peter Beredjiklian was 10th (5.69 meters / 18 feet, 8 inches). Joey Kim cleared 3.75 meters to take fifth in the pole vault (12 feet, 3.6 inches), and Kyler Lee placed 12th in the shot put with a personal-best mark of 11.11 meters (36 feet, 5.5 inches). Jason Mayo also competed in the high jump, clearing 1.55 meters (5 feet, 1 inch) for sixth place.
Haverford will now take to the track at Franklin & Marshall on Saturday, February 28, as the two-day Centennial Conference Championships open at 11 a.m.
