NEW LONDON, Conn. – The 28th-ranked Haverford College women's squash team (2–7) wrapped up the Connecticut Round Robin with a Sunday morning match against No. 25 Conn. College (3–8), falling 9–0 at the Squash Courts on the campus of Connecticut College.
Competing in the top flight, Kendry Sol Navas Perez opened the match with a three-game decision over Joelle Phuah, taking the contest by scores of 11–6, 11–5, and 11–6. Conn. College followed in the second flight, where Aarushi Reddy posted a sweep against Zoe Liu (11–6, 11–3, 11–5).
The third flight produced a contentious battle, as Julia Carrasco pushed Gwyneth Perez to four games. After dropping a tight first game that went into extra points, Perez regrouped to secure the match, 12–14, 11–6, 11–6, 11–5. Momentum carried into the fourth rung for the Camels, where Miranda Medina earned a 3–1 result against Avallina Orfield (4–11, 11–8, 11–5, 11–8).
Conn. College continued to build its advantage in the fifth flight, as Ainsley Ellison claimed a four-game decision over Ofri Geva by scores of 11–6, 8–11, 11–4, and 11–6. The sixth rung saw Ariana Michaca deliver a sweep against Amy Saxon, winning 11–3, 11–1, and 11–6.
In the lower half of the ladder, Kimberly Lucero Portugal recorded a three-game decision over Madeline Bulbulia (11–5, 11–6, 11–8) in the seventh flight, before the Camels added another point in the eighth flight, where Sienna Maloney closed out a sweep against Matilda Chartener (11–6, 11–4, 12–10).
On the ninth rung of the ladder, Natalie Drew earned a sweep against Sarah Kotapka by scores of 11–5, 11–6, and 11–4.
The Fords will take a week off before returning to action in their next match, when they will host No. 26 William Smith at the GIAC Squash Courts on Saturday, January 31, at 10:30 a.m.
