MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Haverford College women's squash team (2–6) faced another challenging test at the Connecticut Round Robin, falling to No. 19 Wesleyan (7–3) by a 9–0 result on Saturday morning at the Rosenbaum Squash Center on the campus of Wesleyan University.
At the top rung of the ladder, Mira Bakshi set the tone for Wesleyan with a straight-game result against Joelle Phuah, closing out the match by scores of 11–6, 13–11, and 11–7 in a match that saw extra points in the second game. The Cardinals added another point in the second flight, where Avika Pande controlled the pace in a three-game defeat over Zoe Liu (11–2, 11–0, 11–5).
Wesleyan continued to build momentum in the third flight as Aanya Anand secured a 3–0 outcome against Julia Carrasco, winning 11–4, 11–0, 11–4. On the fourth rung of the ladder, Penelope Furnas followed with a 3–0 performance against Avallina Orfield (11–7, 11–2, 11–6).
The fifth rung saw Katherine Risden earn a sweep over Ofri Geva by scores of 11–4, 11–1, and 11–2. Wesleyan maintained its advantage in the sixth flight, as Jaclyn Dichter came through with a 3–0 outcome against Amy Saxon (11–3, 11–2, 11–2).
In the lower half of the ladder, Leandra Sze posted a sweep over Madeline Bulbulia on the seventh rung, winning 11–2, 11–1, 11–6. Caroline Caiati followed in the eighth flight with a 3–0 result against Matilda Chartener (11–4, 11–2, 11–1).
The match concluded on the ninth rung of the ladder, where Saara Saini closed out a three-game contest against Sarah Kotapka, winning 11–5, 11–2, 11–2.
The Fords will wrap up the Connecticut Round Robin on Sunday, January 18, taking on No. 25 Conn. College at 10:00 a.m.
