NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Haverford College men's track and field team returned to competition to open the 2026 portion of its schedule, turning in an impressive performance inside The Armory at the Ramapo Invitational on Friday morning.
Senior Jory Lee highlighted the meet in the triple jump, placing third with a personal-best mark of 14.46 meters (47 feet, 5.25 inches). The performance currently ranks 11th in Division III and keeps Lee second on Haverford's all-time list, surpassing his previous best of 14.25 meters (46 feet, 9 inches).
In the 60 meters, sophomore Derek Linden led the group with a 13th-place finish in 7.69 seconds. Jonah Hoffman-Weitsman followed in 17th at 7.80, while first-year Kofi Kim placed 20th in 7.96. Hongyi Zhang rounded out the squad with a 28th-place finish in 9.23.
First-year Ian Lihani competed in the 60-meter hurdles prelims and finished 11th overall with a time of 9.08 seconds.
Thomas Fendig posted a 19th-place finish in the 200 meters, crossing the line in 23.14 seconds. Niko Beros followed in 26th with a season-best time of 23.47, and first-year Xan White placed 63rd in 26.14.
Fendig doubled back in the 400 meters to place 12th with a time of 51.15 seconds. Nico Greene finished 19th in 53.04, just ahead of Lihani, who placed 20th in 53.11. First-year Josue Laurore rounded out the event in 40th with a time of 55.34.
A strong showing came in the 800 meters, led by first-year Oliver Barr's 10th-place finish in 2:00.09. William Tew placed 13th in 2:01.95, while Wyatt Grace recorded a personal best of 2:03.68 to finish 20th. Reef Kirchner followed closely in 21st at 2:03.99.
The mile featured one of the top performances of the meet for the men. Owen Bluman finished fourth in 4:18.13, a personal best that currently ranks 15th in Division III. First-year Cole Branstrom also posted a personal best, placing eighth in 4:24.62, while Torin Pelton-Flavin added another PR with a 10th-place finish in 4:28.16. Daniel Gordon rounded out the Scarlet and Black with a 16th-place finish in 4:35.00.
In the 5,000 meters, Raine Guidarelli earned a fourth-place finish in 16:14.40, while Joseph De Rosa placed seventh with a time of 16:33.25.
Capping off the running events was the 3,000 meters, where Simon Lane delivered a standout performance, winning the event with a time of 8:19.60. The first-year's effort currently ranks ninth in Division III and now sits ninth in Haverford College history. Micah Lachman followed with a second-place finish in 8:32.38, a personal best that ranks 19th nationally. Luke de Valpine also posted a personal best, placing third with a time of 8:37.10, which ranks No. 27 in Division III. Jakob Maiwald rounded out the top finishes for the squad, placing eighth in 8:56.02, a mark that ranks No. 81 nationally.
In the long jump, Mark Tringas led the Haverford trio with a ninth-place finish and a season-best mark of 6.43 meters (21 feet, 1.25 inches). Jackson Juzang placed 16th with a jump of 5.90 meters (19 feet, 4.25 inches), and first-year Peter Beredjiklian recorded a personal-best leap of 5.63 meters (18 feet, 5.75 inches) to finish 20th.
The Fords will face a quick turnaround for their next competition, traveling to Collegeville, Pa., for the Collegeville Classic under the lights at the Floy Lewis Bakes Center on Sunday, January 18, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
