CANTON, Ga. – Reza Eshghi '25, an alumni of the Men's Cross Country and Men's Track & Field programs, has been recognized as the D3CA Region V Men's Student-Athlete of the Year for the 2024-25 academic year, the Division III Commissioners Association (D3CA) announced Wednesday afternoon.
Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society, serves as the presenting sponsor of these awards. "Chi Alpha Sigma is honored to partner with the D3CA in recognizing these outstanding student-athletes," said Kellen Wells-Mangold, Executive Director of Chi Alpha Sigma. "Our mission to celebrate excellence in both academics and athletics perfectly aligns with this initiative. These recipients exemplify the highest ideals of collegiate athletics and leadership."
As a Regional Student-Athlete of the Year, Eshghi now advances to the national ballot for the D3CA Men's Sport Student-Athlete of the Year award, which will be announced next month.
The award, in its fourth year, recognizes graduating seniors based on academic achievement, athletic excellence, service and leadership, and a personal statement submitted by each nominee. Voting is conducted by conference commissioners within each of the ten regions. The top male and female honorees in each region are considered for the two national awards.
An economics major, Eshghi capped his career with a national runner-up finish in the indoor 3,000 meters, earning first-team All-America honors. He is a three-time All-American, with additional second-team recognition in the mile and 1,500 meters (2024) and the 5,000 meters (2025). He was named the 2025 Centennial Conference Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year and received the Gregory Kannerstein '63 Award, Haverford's second-highest athletic honor for seniors.
A versatile and dominant competitor for the Fords, the Lincoln, Mass., native earned first-team All-Centennial honors in the distance medley relay (2023), mile, 1,500, and 5,000 meters (2024), and repeated as champion in the mile, 1,500, and 3,000 meters in 2025. He consistently earned USTFCCCA All-Metro Region honors from 2023 through 2025 in multiple events, including the mile, 1,500, 3,000, and 5,000 meters. In cross country, he was a two-time NCAA qualifier and earned All-Region and second-team All-Centennial honors in 2024.
Eshghi earned a CSC Academic All-America honor last month and was recognized on the CSC Academic All-District Team for three consecutive years. He also received the Ambler Scholar-Athlete Award, presented to one of the top 15 GPAs among Haverford's senior athletes. He was named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll six times and was a five-time Centennial Track Athlete of the Week.
