COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Haverford College men's track and field team opened the 2025-26 indoor season with a strong showing at the Floy Lewis Bakes Center, competing at the Ursinus Bow Tie Invitational on Saturday.Â
The Fords posted school records, top-10 performances and multiple event wins across the sprints, middle distance and field events, highlighted by victories in the 60-meter hurdles, 200 meters, 400 meters, mile, long jump and triple jump.
In the 60 meters, Niko Beros and Nico Greene advanced from the prelims with times of 7.28 and 7.29, respectively. Beros later ran 7.16 in the final to establish a new school record, eclipsing the 7.19 by Carlos Coleman in 2008. Greene's 7.29 in the prelims also tied for 10th in program history.
In the 60-meter hurdles, Samuel Lin recorded a winning time of 8.57, which checks in at the third-best mark in program history. Ian Lihani followed in 8.93 and Alex Geng in 9.49, with both landing in the program top 10.
The Fords also saw a major standout performance in the triple jump, where Jory Lee produced a personal-best 14.25 meters (46 feet, 9 inches), the second-best mark in program history. Lee currently sits at 14th in the nation at this early benchmark.
Paced by Lee, Haverford excelled in the jumps. Jackson Juzang recorded a mark of 6.38 meters (20 feet, 11.25 inches) in the long jump. He was followed by Mayo at 6.29 meters (20 feet, 7.75 inches), Mark Tringas at 6.16 meters (20 feet, 2.5 inches) and Peter Beredjiklian at 5.52 meters (18 feet, 1.5 inches).
The Fords showed notable depth in the 200 meters. Thomas Fendig won his heat in a personal-best 22.89, now the fifth-best mark in school history. Greene (23.28), Beros (23.58) and Mark Tringas (24.10) also turned in competitive efforts. Also competing were Jackson Juzang (24.82), Geng (25.03), Jory Lee (25.47) and Xan White (25.58). Thomas Fendig returned with another strong showing in the 400 meters, running 50.45, while White finished in 58.54.
Haverford's men's milers delivered an impressive group performance. Will Tew led the group in 4:26.74, followed closely by Daniel Gordon in 4:27.14 and Cole Branstrom in 4:29.88, giving the Fords three runners under 4:30. Wade Garoutte was the next Ford across in 4:30.37, followed by Oliver Barr in 4:41.36 and Gopal Patel, who ran a personal best of 4:43.25.
In the second heat, Nicky Elias-Gillette opened with a personal-best 4:46.46. Deven Abrams ran a PR of 4:49.97, while Jack McCurry added another personal best in 4:53.07. He was followed by Liam Deimler in 4:53.96 and Gabriel Bernstein in 4:55.36. Cullen Worth ran 16:47.89 in the 5,000 meters in the longest-distance event of the afternoon.Â
Mayo added a personal best in the shot put with an 11.07-meter (36 feet, 4 inches) throw. Kofi Kim reached 9.91 meters (32 feet, 6.25 inches), and Kyler Lee threw 9.58 meters (31 feet, 5.25 inches).
Haverford now returns to action in the 2026 portion of the season on Friday, Jan. 16, at the Ramapo Invitational, held at the historic Armory in New York. Events are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
