LANCASTER, Pa. — The 28th-ranked Haverford College women's squash team (1–3) fell to No. 27 Franklin & Marshall (2–2) by an 8–1 score on Sunday morning, closing out the third and final day of Pennsylvania State Classic action.
Haverford opened the match with a strong start, as Tyler Kinkema delivered the Fords' lone point in the ninth flight with a dominant 11–1, 11–3, 11–1 victory over Nathalie Hernandez. The Diplomats, however, quickly responded. In flight six, Lavanya Mio Seshasayee evened the match with an 11–5, 11–9, 11–4 win against Amy Saxon, before Noelle Bardorf pushed F&M ahead 2–1 by defeating Avallina Orfield 11–6, 11–5, 11–1 in the fourth flight.
Franklin & Marshall continued to build momentum with victories in the second and third flights. Rory Dasher topped Zoe Liu 11–5, 11–5, 11–2, and Mia Todd followed with an 11–2, 11–1, 11–2 decision over Julia Carrasco to extend the lead to 4–1.
In flight five, Joey Ho earned an 11–7, 11–8, 11–4 win over Ofri Geva, while Elizabeth Stout captured the seventh flight with an 11–4, 11–2, 11–6 victory against Madeline Bulbulia.
The most competitive match of the day came in the eighth flight, where Destiny Ponce edged Haverford's Sarah Kotapka in a five-game battle, 8–11, 11–6, 8–11, 11–6, 12–10, giving the Diplomats a 7–1 advantage.
The match concluded in the top flight with a four-game thriller, as Ashanti Amastal secured the 8–1 F&M victory by defeating Joelle Phuah 11–7, 9–11, 11–6, 11–7.
Haverford College women's squash will return to action on Saturday, November 22, when the Fords open Liberty League play on the road at No. 22 St. Lawrence. Match time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
