HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's tennis team placed three student-athletes on the 2025-26 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Team, as announced in a postseason release on Tuesday afternoon.
Junior Marko Arboleda, sophomore Teo Bortan, and senior Niki Lavu each earned CSC Academic All-District recognition following standout seasons for the Fords, who reached the Centennial Conference Championship match for the second consecutive season.
To be eligible for the Academic All-District® and Academic All-America® award, a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale, must be in the lineup for 70 percent of the total matches played by the team that includes team scores, and is at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
Arboleda earned All-Centennial Conference First Team honors in doubles and Second Team recognition in singles after another strong campaign near the top of the Haverford lineup. The junior posted a 6-13 singles record while competing exclusively at first and second singles, including a 4-1 mark in Centennial Conference play. The Chappaqua, N.Y. native earned key conference singles victories over Ursinus, Washington College, and Franklin & Marshall, including a straight-set win over Luke Brodsky in the Centennial Conference Semifinals on May 1. In doubles, Arboleda teamed primarily with first-year Roberto Vazquez at first doubles, with the duo going 8-10 overall and 2-2 in conference play while picking up notable victories over NYU, Washington College, Stevens, Johns Hopkins, and Swarthmore.
Bortan collected All-Centennial Conference Second Team singles honors following a strong sophomore season. Playing throughout the middle of the lineup, Bortan finished second on the team with 11 singles victories, posting an 11-8 overall record and a 3-2 mark in Centennial Conference play. He earned wins at the second, third, fourth, and fifth singles positions, including victories over Dickinson, Gettysburg, Washington College, Stevens, and Franklin & Marshall. The Old Saybrook, Conn. local also added 10 doubles victories during the spring season, competing primarily at first and second doubles alongside multiple partners, picking up victories over the likes of No. 40 Stevens, No. 7 Johns Hopkins, and No. 40 Franklin & Marshall in the number two slot with Lavu.
Lavu capped his senior season with All-Centennial Conference First Team singles honors after leading the Fords with a 13-7 singles record. The Bryn Mawr, Pa. native went 4-1 in Centennial Conference play while competing at first and second singles, finishing 7-5 at first singles and 6-2 at second singles. Lavu posted a 2-0 record against regionally ranked opponents, defeating Stevens' Max-William Kanz and Franklin & Marshall's Luke Brodsky in straight sets. He also added a three-set win over Carnegie Mellon's Diogo Tinoco and helped guide Haverford back to the Centennial Conference Championship match. In doubles, Lavu contributed nine victories while competing with several partners throughout the spring.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
