HAVERFORD, Pa. - The United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA) announced the recipients of the 2026 All-Mid-Atlantic/South Region Awards on Monday morning, as the Haverford women's fencing progam was represented by senior saber fencer Carter Wood.
Wood earned Division III All-Region recognition in sabre from the USFCA following her performance at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regional Fencing Championships. These awards are determined based on result and field size at each of the NCAA Regional competitions.
The senior sabre fencer from Somerville, Mass. represented Haverford at the regional championship, which featured competitors from programs across the region including powerhouses such as Penn State University, Princeton University, Duke University, University of North Carolina, Temple University and University of Pennsylvania.
Wood led the Fords on the day with a 29th-place overall finish in sabre, pacing Haverford in a large and competitive regional field. Her effort helped anchor the women's squad as the program competed in the regional championship event inside Alumni Field House for the first time.
Regional results account for 60 percent of the selection formula used to determine qualifiers for the NCAA Fencing Championships, with regular-season results making up the remaining 40 percent. Championship qualifiers will be announced on Tuesday, March 10, with this year's national meet scheduled to take place at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana from March 19–22. The women's competition will be held Thursday and Friday, followed by the men's events on Saturday and Sunday.
