PHILADELPHIA — The No. 30 Haverford College men's squash team (9-13) powered its way to a 7-2 victory over No. 29 Conn. College (8-11), to claim the Conroy Cup title on the final day of the CSA Team Divisional Championships at the Specter Center on Sunday afternoon.
The Fords established early control in the lower flights. At ninth, Nevin Mital earned a composed straight-game victory over Arman Sana, 11-9, 11-6, 11-9. Just above him in the ladder, Kai Schinaman delivered a strong performance at fourth flight, defeating Noah Fish in straight games, 11-7, 14-12, 11-8. Advait Chandramouli followed with a 12-10, 11-6, 11-3 win at seventh flight against Andrew Nemphos, while Jet Li was dominant at fifth, dispatching Thomas Overton III, 11-7, 11-6, 11-2.
Momentum continued to build as Ben Levy delivered a pivotal five-game triumph at third flight. After splitting the first four games with Siddhant Rewari, Levy pulled away decisively in the fifth, 11-1, to help the Scarlet and Black move firmly in front, 4-1.
With the team on the brink, Zhao stepped into the sixth-flight matchup needing one more point to clinch. After dropping the opening game 8-11 to Hayden Okurowski, Zhao regrouped and controlled the tempo of the match. He captured back-to-back tight 11-9 decisions before closing strongly in the fourth, 11-4, securing the fifth team point and officially locking up the victory for Haverford.
Dean Ibrahim later added to the final margin at eighth flight with an 11-2, 11-8, 11-5 sweep of Osiris Perez. The opposition picked up its two points at the top of the ladder, as Henry Pelletier fell at first flight (9-11, 3-11, 6-11) and Adam Elkaliuoby dropped a straight-game decision at second (4-11, 6-11, 6-11).
The victory over Conn. College gives Haverford its first Conroy Cup title in program history and marks the Fords' first CSA team championship since capturing the Chaffee Cup in 2017.
