Women's Tennis Picked Second in CC Preseason Poll

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College women's tennis team has been selected second in the annual preseason Centennial Conference Women's Tennis Poll, the league office announced Thursday morning. Haverford received two first-place votes and 57 total points in the overall balloting.

The Fords look to build off a strong 2025 campaign in which they posted a 10-7 overall record (7-1 CC) and reached the Centennial Conference Semifinals for the seventh consecutive year. Aiming to qualify for the Centennial Conference Tournament for the 14th time in the past 15 seasons, year six under Head Coach John Taft promises to be an exciting one. The Fords welcomed six first-year players to the roster, forming the 18th-ranked recruiting class in Division III according to TennisRecruiting.net.

One of the new faces to watch this season is first-year Aarti Prochnow. Following a standout fall campaign, Prochnow earned the No. 12 singles ranking in the Atlantic South Region and the No. 47 national ranking in Division III.

Prochnow's inaugural collegiate fall season was highlighted by an impressive showing at the ITA Southeast Regional Championships in September, where she advanced to the quarterfinals in singles, defeating Swarthmore's Lola Diaz in the Round of 16. Earlier in the season, she opened play at the TCNJ Invitational with a doubles victory alongside partner Jolie Zinc against NYU's Vera Bondarenko and Emma Kast. Prochnow also secured singles wins over TCNJ's Gabrielle Brideau and Shruti Mannan. She closed the fall on a strong note as she and Zinc earned a doubles victory over Swarthmore's Paola Almeda and Lola Diaz, before Prochnow added a commanding singles win over Riya Rao.

Defending champion Swarthmore was tabbed first with 63 points and seven first-place votes. Haverford followed closely in second with 57 points and two first-place votes, while Franklin & Marshall came in third with 51 points. Dickinson was selected fourth with 40 points. Washington College was picked fifth with 34 points, followed by Gettysburg in sixth with 28 points. Bryn Mawr claimed seventh with 25 points, Ursinus slotted eighth with 17 points, and Muhlenberg rounded out the poll with 9 points.

Women's tennis opens the 2026 season on Sunday, February 22, at 11 a.m., as the Fords host Mary Washington under the lights of Alumni Field House.
