SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The No. 35 Haverford College women's tennis team fell to No. 12 Trinity (Texas), 7-0, on Tuesday morning, as the Tigers claimed all three doubles matches before sweeping singles play.
Trinity opened the match with a clean sweep in doubles competition. In the third doubles match, Eva Kovachev and Allison Vo were the first to finish, defeating Aarti Prochnow and Mallika Reddy by a 6-1 score. The Tigers then secured the doubles point in second doubles as Katie Schmidt and Lauren Tin topped Natalia Chapa and Abhi Menon, 6-2. Trinity completed the sweep in the final doubles contest, as Rosabella Andrade and Trinity Levy defeated Adelaide Kreutel and Jolie Zink, 6-3, in first doubles.
In singles play, the Tigers quickly extended its lead. In fourth singles, Levy defeated Chapa, 6-1, 6-0, to give the hosts a 2-0 advantage. Tin followed with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Kreutel in third singles, while Andrade added another point in second singles with a 6-2, 6-0 win against Prochnow for the clinching point.
The Tigers continued their momentum in sixth singles as Astrid Kerrman defeated Erika Phanord, 6-3, 6-2. At the top spot, Kovachev edged Zink in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4, before Schmidt closed the match in fifth singles with a 5-7, 6-3, 6-0 comeback win over Sophie Capone to seal up the 7-0 sweep.
The Fords will look to bounce back during a two-match day on Wednesday, March 11, as Haverford faces No. 40 Skidmore at 9 a.m. CT before taking on Mary Hardin-Baylor at 4 p.m. CT.
