HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's soccer team was selected to finish ninth in the Centennial Conference, according to the 2025 preseason coaches' poll released Monday morning by the conference office.
Defending conference champion Johns Hopkins topped the poll with six first-place votes and 77 points. Dickinson followed in second place with four first-place votes and 73 points. Franklin & Marshall (62 points) were tabbed third, just ahead of Muhlenberg (61 points) in fourth. Washington College rounded out the top five with 52 points.
Swarthmore was picked sixth with 45 points, followed by Gettysburg (27 points) in seventh and McDaniel (25 points) in eighth. Haverford earned the ninth spot with 17 points, while Ursinus completed the poll in 10th with 16 points.
The Scarlet and Black will look to return to the Centennial Conference tournament for the first time since 2019, welcoming 11 newcomers to a roster that also returns several key contributors.
Leading the way for Haverford is senior forward Thomas Vanni, who posted a career-best 10 points last season on a team-high four goals and two assists. Another impact player to watch is transfer goalkeeper Grayson Benson, who joins the Fords after one season at Oberlin College. The Timonium, Md. native appeared in 15 matches with 10 starts for the Yeomen in 2024, recording a .761 save percentage with 51 total saves.
The Fords will open their 2025 campaign on Friday, August 29, hosting Arcadia University at 4 p.m. on Walton Field.
