HAVERFORD, Pa. — Haverford (0-0-1) and Arcadia (0-0-1) played to a 2-2 draw on Friday at Walton Field, following two goals in the final 13 minutes for the hosts on an electrifying Opening Day comeback. The Knights took an early lead with two goals in the first half, while the Fords responded with two goals in the second half to level the match. Both teams had one yellow card each, and Haverford outshot Arcadia 12-7.
Arcadia took the lead early in the first half with a goal by Logan Watkins in the 17th minute, marking his first of the season. Watkins struck again in the 25th minute, off a cross by Nicolas Canal, to bring Arcadia's score to 2-0. Haverford's Grayson Benson made key saves against shots from Scott Jordan, but the home team was unable to capitalize on their offensive opportunities, with shots from Thomas Vanni, Andrew Fritz, and Max Lovinger all being saved by Arcadia's Logan Gildea. The half was marked by a series of fouls from both teams, with Arcadia's Brayden Perry receiving a yellow card in the 41st minute.
In the second half, Haverford's Cooper Cohen scored his first goal of the season in the 77th minute off a diving header attempt, assisted by Vanni, cutting Arcadia's lead to 2-1. Just a few minutes later, Fritz equalized for the Fords in the 84th minute, hitting home a pass from Vanni, bringing the score to 2-2. Haverford's offensive pressure was evident with a total of six corner kicks in the half and multiple shots on goal, including a shot by Gabe Knopf that hit the crossbar in the 73rd minute.
