Five From Baseball Earn College Sports Communicators Academic All-District

Full CSC Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College baseball team was once again well represented on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, with five student-athletes earning recognition. This honor celebrates the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Haverford's honorees include Sam Cohen, Jonny Flieder, Riley Grohowski, Anthony Runfola, and Luke Treese.

Cohen earned his first All-Conference recognition after a breakout season on the mound. The junior right-hander went 5–1, leading the Fords in wins, innings pitched (55.2), ERA (3.40), and strikeouts (57)—the latter ranking third in the Centennial Conference. A one-time CC Pitcher of the Week (April 29), Cohen tallied seven games with five or more strikeouts, including a season-high eight during the tournament against McDaniel. The Ellicott City, Md. native also tossed the team's lone complete game of the season, going seven innings with five strikeouts in a 12–2 win over Washington College on April 19.

Flieder had a standout senior season. The Narberth, Pa. native made his presence felt across 31 games, recording 23 RBI, four home runs, and 21 walks while patrolling left field. He finished with a .394 on-base percentage and a .374 slugging percentage, demonstrating a strong ability to reach base and drive in runs. One of his top performances came in a four-hit, four-RBI showing against Rosemont.

Grohowski, of McLean, Va., made 13 appearances on the mound, including nine starts, tossing 55.2 innings with 36 strikeouts. He compiled a 4–2 record with two saves, highlighted by a 7.1-inning, two-run gem against Dickinson in a must-win scenario on the final day of the regular season. A dependable workhorse in his senior campaign, Grohowski consistently took the ball against top opponents such as No. 8 Salisbury and No. 13 Gettysburg. His ability to eat innings and pitch deep into games proved vital for the Fords, providing stability and leadership throughout a successful 2025 season.

Back to full strength after two injury-impacted years, Runfola reminded everyone of his talent with a standout senior campaign. The designated hitter slashed .318/.402/.624, collecting 48 hits, 38 runs, 14 doubles, a team-best four triples, nine home runs, 45 RBI, 13 walks, and eight stolen bases. The Phoenix, Ariz. native recorded 13 multi-hit games, including three-hit efforts against Hiram (March 14), Muhlenberg (April 14), and Swarthmore (May 3). His most iconic moment came during the Centennial Conference Tournament when he launched three home runs in a single game against Swarthmore, tying both the Haverford and Centennial single-game home run records and becoming the first player in tournament history to accomplish the feat.

Treese earned a CC All-Conference Honorable Mention nod after an explosive second season. The right fielder hit .336 with 43 hits, 28 runs, nine doubles, one triple, three home runs, 24 RBI, and 15 stolen bases. He also walked 22 times and posted a .466 on-base percentage and a .492 slugging percentage, providing consistent production in the lineup and a reliable presence in the outfield for Dave Beccaria's squad. The Hightstown, N.J. native had nine multi-hit games, including a two-home run, four-RBI performance against Washington College on April 19. He also made three pitching appearances, most notably striking out four over 2.2 innings against Wisconsin Lutheran on March 10.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America® recipients will be announced on July 1.
