Full PhillySIDA Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford College men's lacrosse student-athletes Matt Richards and Reid Tietjen were named to the 2025 Philadelphia Sports Information Directors Association (PhillySIDA) Academic All-Area Team, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon.

To be eligible for Academic All-Area honors, a student-athlete must be in at least their second year at the institution and hold a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher. The team is selected by the sports information offices of 30 colleges and universities in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. This season's team features 13 standout student-athletes.

Hailing from Middletown, R.I., Richards led the Fords with 61 points, tallying a team-best 44 goals along with 17 assists. He ranked second in the Centennial Conference in goals and fifth in total points. Over his career, Richards made 54 starts—including all 16 games in 2025—and finished with 125 career goals, good for seventh all-time in program history. He posted at least three goals in eight different contests this season, including six goals against McDaniel on March 21 and a season-high seven versus Muhlenberg on April 19.

Richards also reached a significant milestone by scoring his 100th career goal against Rhodes on March 14. In the McDaniel game, he recorded a season-high nine points, adding three assists to his six goals. On the defensive end, he tied for third on the team with 41 ground balls and contributed five caused turnovers.

Tietjen, a native of Mountain Lakes, N.J., earned a spot on the Academic All-Area Team following a strong return from injury and continued academic excellence. A USA Lacrosse and Nike Lacrosse Preseason All-American Honorable Mention, he was also named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll. After missing the first nine games of the season, Tietjen made seven appearances—including four starts—totaling 14 points on nine goals and four assists. He also collected 14 ground balls.

Among his highlights were a three-point performance against Muhlenberg on April 9 and back-to-back hat tricks at Washington College (April 12) and at No. 16 Dickinson (April 19).

Joining Richards and Tietjen on the Academic All-Area Team are David Azzarano (Immaculata), Brendan Boschi (Neumann), Emmet Carroll (Penn), Josh Devine and Gunnar Seamen (Gwynedd Mercy), Mick Kilgallon (Chestnut Hill), Matt Licata and Tyler Sandoval (Villanova), Nick Litzenberger (Eastern), Kyle McLaughlin (Arcadia), and Performer of the Year Levi Verch (Saint Joseph's).
