GALLOWAY, N.J. — The Haverford College men's lacrosse team (4-1) saw its four-game winning streak snapped on Saturday afternoon, falling to Stockton (3-0) by an 11-8 final. Despite a strong fourth-quarter push in which the Fords scored four times, they were unable to overcome the Ospreys' early advantage.
Reid Tietjen tallied two goals and one assist, reaching 150 career points. The milestone moves the senior into 16th place on Haverford's all-time scoring list. Philip Passalaqua led the team with 11 shots, finishing with one goal and one assist. Max Esteban went 8-for-19 at the faceoff X, while Ronan West anchored the defensive effort with six ground balls and four caused turnovers, adding one goal and one assist. In goal, Mac Broaddus recorded 11 saves.
Stockton was paced by Colin Wagner, who scored five goals on eight shots, including two man-up tallies. Jack Vandegrift added two goals and one assist, including the game-winner. Josh Graham contributed two goals and one assist, while Cole Blum won 13 of 22 faceoffs.
Stockton struck early in the first quarter, as Wagner opened the scoring at 14:23 off an assist from Vandegrift. The Ospreys added unassisted goals from Graham and Wagner before Vandegrift extended the lead to 4-0 midway through the period. Haverford responded late in the quarter with a man-up goal from Mac Grubb at 2:01, assisted by Charlie Vaccaro. Nick Snyder followed with a goal at 1:11 off a feed from Passalaqua, trimming the deficit to 4-2 after one.
The Ospreys built on their lead in the second quarter. Graham scored at 13:58, and Wagner added another at 10:16 to push the margin to 6-2. Vaccaro halted the run with a goal at 4:21, assisted by Tietjen, but Stockton answered less than two minutes later. The hosts carried a 7-3 advantage into halftime.
Tietjen opened the second-half scoring with a goal at 9:43 of the third quarter to make it 7-4. Stockton responded with a man-up goal from Wagner at 1:34 to restore a four-goal cushion. West sparked the defensive effort with several caused turnovers during a physical third period, but the Ospreys maintained an 8-4 lead entering the final quarter.
Haverford mounted a late rally in the fourth. West scored at 12:14 after a successful clear, and Passalaqua added a goal less than a minute later to cut the deficit to 8-6. Stockton countered with a man-up goal from Vandegrift at 4:18, followed by an unassisted strike from Gage Parker to extend the lead to 10-6. Tietjen answered at 1:39 to pull Haverford within three, but Wagner completed his five-goal day just 25 seconds later to seal the outcome. Turner Elliott added a late goal with 33 seconds remaining, assisted by Snyder, but Stockton held on for the 11-8 victory.
Looking ahead, Haverford faces Susquehanna on Swan Field on Saturday, March 7. The game will take place at 3 p.m. on Swan Field in Haverford, Pennsylvania.
