HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford College senior goalkeeper and captain Lily Buyer was named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week after a career-best performance in her final appearance for the Fords.
Buyer recorded a career-high 12 saves in a 0-0 draw against 13th-ranked Swarthmore on Senior Day, helping Haverford hand the nationally ranked Garnet their first conference result without a win this season. The shutout marked Buyer's first of the year and capped an outstanding career in goal for the Scarlet and Black.
Throughout the match, Buyer was the difference-maker, turning away a flurry of Swarthmore chances, including three saves in the closing minutes to preserve the draw. She played all 90 minutes, anchoring a back line that kept one of the Centennial Conference's most potent offenses scoreless.
The New York, N.Y., product finishes her Haverford career with eight shutouts and just 29 goals allowed in 2,237 minutes, capping things with memorable final outing and a well-earned weekly honor from the conference.
