NCAA Preview: Lachman and Lane to Represent Haverford in Spartanburg

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -  The Haverford College men's cross country program will be represented by senior Micah Lachman and first-year Simon Lane at the 2025 NCAA Division III Championships on Saturday, November 22, in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

The pair advanced as individual qualifiers after standout performances at the Metro Region Championships, where the Fords placed fourth overall at DREAM Park in Logan Township, N.J. Lachman finished second in the 8K with a time of 24:37.6, while Lane followed in third at 24:43.2. As two of the top seven finishers in the region not on a qualifying team, both secured automatic berths to the national meet.

Path to Hub City
This year's championship brings the nation's top Division III runners to Spartanburg, colloquially known as Hub City due to its railroad heritage. The event is hosted by Converse University and OneSpartanburg, Inc. at the Roger Milliken Cross Country Course. Thirty-two teams and 70 individual qualifiers make up the men's field, selected through regional championships across the country. The men's race is set for 10 a.m. Eastern time,  with live coverage streaming on NCAA.com from the starting gun through the awards ceremony.

What's at Stake
The top 40 finishers at the national meet will earn All-America honors. Haverford brings a rich legacy to championship weekend, having produced 41 All-Americans in program history. Lachman returns with veteran championship experience, as he also ran in the 2023 NCAA Championships, finishing 241st overall during his sophomore campaign at the Dickinson-hosted meet at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pa.  Lane looks to continue a breakout first-year campaign with another big-stage performance on Division III distance running's biggest event.
