Men's Fencing Goes 5-1 to Wrap Up Drew Invitational

MADISON, N.J. - The Haverford College men's fencing team concluded its two-day stint at the Drew Invitational with a strong day of fencing at the Simon Forum on the campus of Drew University. On day two, Haverford finished fourth overall with 93 individual victories in 153 total bouts, winning five of six overall matchups.

Long Island 14, Haverford 13
In foil, Conrad Seib-Levinson led the way at 3-0 as Haverford claimed a commanding 7–2 win, with strong support from a pair of wins each from Henry Fedonchik and Andrew Strayer. The epee squad followed with a 6–3 victory behind key bout wins from Eric Chen, Kenji Gullo, and Jack Richards. With a 9–0 setback in sabre, Long Island was able to eke out the match victory.

Haverford 19, Lafayette 8
Haverford picked up a victory over Lafayette, with a 9-0 decision in foil and a 6-3 win in epee helping to lead the way. Seib-Levinson went 3-0, joining Oliver Po and Michael Pyo with undefeated rounds. Richards was 3-0 in epee, while Eric Chen went 2-0, and Kenji Gullo added a win. Greg Roumiantsev, Ryotaro Sakazaki, and Andy Loo each picked up individual wins in sabre.

Haverford 15, Stevens 12
The Fords took down the Ducks in a close battle, with 6-3 wins in both foil and epee leading the way. Po went 3-0, while Pyo (2-1) and Dean Myers (1-2) earned wins. Ian Alvarez was unblemished in his bouts in epee, while Richards chipped in two wins and Gullo added one. Andy Loo picked up two sabre victories, while Yarosh added one.

Haverford 19, Wheaton 8
The afternoon continued with a 19-8 victory over Wheaton, as foil (8-1) and epee (7-2) again paced the effort. Seib-Levinson and Po were each 3-0, while Henry Fedonchik added a pair of wins. Alvarez paced epee with two wins, while Ezra Weintroub and Gullo each added one. Osaretin Idahor had two wins to lead sabre, with Roumiantsev and Loo adding one.

Haverford 20, Detroit Mercy 7
The Fords delivered a comprehensive performance against Division I Detroit Mercy for a fourth consecutive win with victories in all three weapons. Alvarez and Richards each went 3-0 for the Fords in epee, while Myers was 2-0 in foil to highlight the round.

Haverford 16, Cleveland State 11
Foil went 7-2 against the Vikings, with a 3-0 mark from Myers pacing the effort, while Po and Pyo each won two bouts. Alvarez, Richards, and Gullo each added a pair of victories in epee, and Sakazaki (two wins) and Yarosh (one) were key for sabre.

With the first team competition weekend of the regular season in the books, Haverford now returns to action on Saturday, November 22, with the annual alumni bouts inside the Andy Kates Fencing Salle and the MACFA "B" vs. "C" meet on Sunday, November 23, inside Alumni Field House.
