HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's fencing team plaed three fencers on the United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA) All-America teams, the organization announced in a release this week. Oliver Po was named First-team Division III All-America for foil, while Dean Myers and Eric Chen both took home honorable mention plaudits.

Po, a first-year standout from Bernardsville, N.J. delivered Haverford's top performance in men's foil at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South egional meet, placing 10th overall in a highly competitive field. His finish also represented the highest placement among Division III competitors in the weapon.

He was also a standout at the MACFA championships, earning the individual bronze medal. Myers, also a foilist from San Francisco, earned his second consecutive All-America plaudit after becoming the individual champion at the MACFA meet and following that up with a 27th place finish at the regional meet inside Alumni Field House.

Chen, of Ellicott City, Md. takes home his third straight All-America nod after taking the Division III fencing world by storm a season ago. Adding to a laundry list of athletic and academic awards, the epeeist was the top finisher for the Fords at the regional meet, finishing 26th. He also paced the epee squad with 10 wins at the MACFA championships and advanced to the Round of 16 in the individual tableau. 

The USFCA recognizes National Collegiate All-Americans for outstanding performances at NCAA Championships. The top-12 finishers in each event, regardless of Division, are recognized based on their final placement at the competition. In addition, the USFCA recognizes the top Division III fencers in the country with Division III All-American awards. 

The recipients of these awards are determined by an evaluation of their regular season performance and postseason performance, including both NCAA Regionals and NCAA Championships.
