HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford College first-year foilist Oliver Po has been named a finalist for two 2025-26 NCAA Fencing Athlete of the Year awards, as presented by the United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA). Head coach Christine Griffith was also recognized as a finalist for National Division III Men's Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season.
She is joined by fellow finalists Ben Bratton (NYU), Elif Sachs (Brandeis), and Bruce Gillman (Vassar). Finalists were selected from nominations submitted by member institutions across all NCAA divisions.
Po earned a spot as a finalist for Division III Foil Newcomer of the Year, joining David Hnizhnik of Brandeis and Josh Sima of Johns Hopkins. He was also named one of three finalists for Division III Foil Fencer of the Year alongside Sima and Phillip Nunnink of Wheaton (Mass.)
A product of Bernardsville, N.J., Po previously earned USFCA Division III first-team All-America honors. He delivered Haverford's top performance in men's foil at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South regional meet, placing 10th overall in a highly competitive field inside Alumni Field House. His finish was the highest among Division III competitors in the weapon and earned him additional USFCA Division III recognition, along with honorable mention All-Region honors.
Griffith continued to impress the fencing world in her second year at the helm of the Fords, as the men's foil squad captured a second consecutive MACFA silver medal while three Fords, Po, Eric Chen, and Dean Myers were named to the USFCA Division III All-America squads.Â
USFCA award winners will be selected by a vote of collegiate member coaches and announced following the conclusion of the upcoming voting period.
