HAVERFORD, Pa. - The No. 28 Haverford College men's squash team (0-4) wrapped up its weekend at the Pennsylvania State Classic with a 9-0 loss to No. 16 Franklin & Marshall (3-2) on Sunday afternoon at the Mayser Center courts.
F&M established control at the top of the lineup, with Sharan Punjabi and Toby Clegg-Petri both securing 3-0 sweeps at the top two flights. The Diplomats continued to roll through the middle of the order, as Noah Katzer, Jamie Stait, David Vahlsing, and Teerth Jilka each posted 3-0 wins.
Haverford's Jet Li provided resistance at the third flight, jumping out to an early lead by taking the first game 11-6. F&M's Aditya Chandani responded by winning the next three to claim the match, 3-1.
The most dramatic moments of the day came in two marathon five-game contests. In a 41-minute battle at the seventh flight, Francis Betkowski rallied from a game down to take a 2-1 lead, winning the second and third games 11-9 and 11-6. F&M's Eeshan Sawant mounted a late surge, however, taking the final two frames 11-3, 11-3 for the 3-2 victory.
Another grueling match unfolded at the ninth flight, where Haverford rookie Dean Ibrahim forced a deciding fifth game after winning the first and fourth (11-5, 11-4). F&M's Hunarpal Kohli edged out the 3-2 win with an 11-9 decision in the fifth to close out the 40-minute match.
In the exhibition, Haverford's Wayne Hsu defeated F&M's Justin Lane, 3-1 (3-11, 6-11, 11-5, 11-13).
The Fords now turn their attention to a trip to Vassar, where they will face the host Brewers and St. Lawrence for their first meetings with Liberty League foes in the 2025–26 season. Action in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., is slated for 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 22.Â
