GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Haverford women's cross country team placed sixth overall at the Centennial Conference Championships Saturday afternoon at Gettysburg College. Overall, 107 runners competed in the conference meet. In the 6k race, the Fords finished with 132 points, well clear of seventh-place Muhlenberg.
Head coach Annick Lamar's team was guided by junior Anastasia Jaycobs' time of 22:49.90. She continued her solid season and crossed the finish line in 25th place overall.
Juniors Alice Sappenfield and Grace Chen were 30th and 31st, respectively. Sappenfield recorded a time of 23:09.90 as Chen registered a mark of 23:12.80. Second-year student-athlete Maia Poremba placed 41st with a time of 24:10.10 while senior Savannah Shaw was one spot behind her in 42nd place. Shaw completed the race in 24:14.10.
Poppy Chrisman crossed the finish line in a personal-best time of 24:35.10. The junior was 47th. Fellow upperclassmen and senior Jessie Hausman was 53rd after posting a time of 24:46.90.
First-year Keiko Chinen provided solid depth with her time of 25:01.30. Madeline Ruchelman was not far behind, crossing the line in 25:18.20 in her first conference championship race. Senior Sophia Furman garnered a time of 25:57.70 while sophomores Bianca Ortiz (26:08.00) and Dalia Smid (26:17.10), as well as senior Audrey Carter (26:22.20) turned in solid efforts.
Third-ranked Johns Hopkins won the meet with a perfect score of 15 points while Gettysburg was second with 85 points. Swarthmore took third (103 points) while Dickinson (126 points) edged Franklin & Marshall (128 points) for fourth place.
Muhlenberg (212 points) followed Haverford while Ursinus (239 points), McDaniel (257 points) and Bryn Mawr (259 points) completed the field.
Women's Cross Country now returns to action on Saturday, November 15, at the NCAA Metro Region Championships in Logan Township, N.J. The race, which is held at the DREAM Park, is slated to begin at 12 p.m.
