LOGAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. – The Haverford College women's cross country team recorded a seventh-place finish out of 24 teams at the 2025 NCAA Division III Metro Region Championship on Saturday morning at DREAM PARK. The meet was hosted by region rival Rowan University.
The Fords totaled 198 points, matching their seventh-place performance from the 2024 Metro Region Championship, and placed all seven runners inside the top 100.
Senior Savannah Shaw led the way for the Scarlet and Black, earning All-Metro Region honors with a 21st-place finish in a personal-best 6K time of 22:44.3. Junior Anastasia Jaycobs was close behind, placing 37th in 23:15.0—just one spot shy of All-Region distinction. Junior Grace Chen, competing in her second Metro Region Championship, finished third for Haverford and 40th overall in 23:18.2.
Senior Jessie Hausman was Haverford's fourth finisher, crossing in 50th with a time of 23:37.1. Junior Alice Sappenfield followed in 59th at 23:57.6, with sophomore Maia Poremba placing 61st in 24:02.2. First-year Poppy Chrisman rounded out the scoring seven in 24:25.1.
Centennial Conference foe Swarthmore captured the Metro Region team title with 71 points, followed by TCNJ (103 points) and Moravian (106 points) to round out the top three.
Moravian's Tara Smurla claimed the individual title, securing her second straight Metro Region championship. Widener's Kathryn Long and Rowan's Gabriella Pagano placed second and third, respectively.
The 2025 women's cross country season officially concluded with Saturday's regional championship meet. Following a short recovery period, the Fords will shift their attention to the 2025–26 indoor track & field season, which opens up at the Ursinus Bow Tie Invitational on December 6.
