PHILADELPHIA - Haverford College junior long-stick midfielder Ronan West was selected to the Philadelphia Sports Information Directors Association (PhillySIDA) Academic All-Area team, the organization announced in a release on Tuesday.
The PhillySIDA Academic All-Area program features 30 schools from the Philadelphia region, with the teams voted on by the athletic communications offices. In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area, student-athletes must be in their second year at their current institution and boast a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or better.
West, a USILA Honorable Mention All-American, appeared in and started all 15 games for the Scarlet and Black, anchoring the defensive midfield while contributing in transition. He tied for fourth in the Centennial Conference with 24 caused turnovers and ranked sixth in the league with 64 ground balls. West also led Haverford midfielders in caused turnovers, while his ground-ball total ranked among the top three on the team.
Offensively, he added eight points on three goals and five assists, including a three-point outing (one goal, two assists) in a season-opening win over Neumann (2/13) and a two-assist performance in a non-conference victory over Susquehanna (3/7). The Mamaroneck, N.Y., native also delivered multiple high-impact defensive performances, including seven-ground-ball efforts against Catholic (2/21) and McDaniel (3/21), while forcing a season-high four turnovers against Neumann (2/13) and Stockton (2/28).
Men's lacrosse finished the 2026 season with a 9-7 record, matching its win total from the previous year and continuing its upward trajectory under Head Coach Richard Carrington. The Fords were competitive throughout a challenging Centennial Conference slate, including several closely contested matchups and two one-goal losses to nationally ranked opponents, before closing the season with a landmark 12-11 road win over Swarthmore—the program's first victory over the Garnet since 2018.
West is joined on the Academic All-Area team by Performer of the Year Clay Almgren of Swarthmore and two of his teammates, Jack McHenry and Drew Tyson. Arcadia (Dylan Garber and Gavin Lenart) and Saint Joseph's (Ben Dutton and Liam Quinn) both placed two players on the team, which is rounded out by Matthew Ludlow (Immaculata), Daniel Myers (Chestnut Hill), Luke Raymond (Villanova), and Noah Simpson (Holy Family).
