CHESTER, Pa. — The Haverford College women's track & field team turned in a strong showing at the Paul Donahue Invitational on Friday, highlighted by a program-record performance in the pole vault from rookie Taniya Denson and several solid efforts across sprints, hurdles, and relays.
Denson delivered the headline performance of the day in the field, clearing 3.55 meters (11 feet, 7.75 inches) to place third overall and break the Haverford program record in the pole vault.
On the track, Nadine Tang placed 30th in the 100 meters in 13.09, while Taylor Allert finished 45th in 13.89. Tang returned in the 200 meters to take 47th in 27.53, followed by Allert in 58th in 28.66, a new personal best, and Emery Casucci in 61st in 28.98.
In the hurdles, Beatrice Di Girolamo placed 18th in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.83, while Adriana Rogow finished 24th in 20.33.
In the 400 meters, Olivia D'Aulerio led Haverford with a fifth-place finish in 58.35. Anna Berry placed 14th in 1:00.47, a new personal best, and Devyn Telleen took 15th in 1:00.61.
The 800-meter collegiate section saw Carly Priest finish 12th in 2:19.66, a new personal best with Sophia Furman placing 50th in 2:31.95.
In the 3000-meter steeplechase, Alice Sappenfield led the Fords in 10th place in 11:39.27. Savannah Shaw followed in 13th in 11:49.48, Poppy Chrisman placed 21st in 12:54.18, and Madeline Ruchelman finished 25th in 13:30.25.
Haverford also put together strong relay performances, finishing ninth in the 4x100-meter relay in 50.69 with Tang, D'Aulerio, Denson, and Di Girolamo. The Fords placed seventh in the 4x400-meter relay in 4:07.91 with Priest, Berry, Casucci, and Telleen.
The Scarlet and Black will look to carry this momentum forward as the season continues at home at the Johnson Track & Throwing Facility for the Haverford Tri-Meet on Tuesday, April 21 at 3:30 p.m.
