CHESTER, Pa. — The Haverford College women's track & field team wrapped up competition at the Danny Curran Invitational on Saturday in Chester, Pa., closing out the two-day meet with a series of personal-best performances, strong middle-distance efforts, and two standout school-record top-10 marks across the pole vault and steeplechase.
On the track, Haverford opened the day in the 1,500 meters, where Anastasia Jaycobs led the way with an eighth-place finish, clocking a personal-best 4:51.21. Maia Poremba followed in 35th with a time of 5:11.60, while Jessie Hausman placed 52nd in 5:19.74. Betty Baraki added a 67th-place finish in 5:25.18, with Bianca Ortiz crossing 74th in 5:30.31. Judy Xie rounded out the field for the Fords in 89th.
In the 100-meter hurdles, sophomore Beatrice Di Girolamo placed 13th in 16.19.
The Fords also saw a strong showing in the 400 meters, led by senior Olivia D'Aulerio, who crossed ninth overall in 58.97. Anna Berry placed 31st in 1:03.03 for a personal best. Senior Brianna Feifer followed in 41st with a personal-best 1:04.07, and sophomore Katie Strutton finished 71st in 1:09.99.
In the 100 meters, junior Nadine Tang led Haverford with a 36th-place finish in 13.17. Sophomore Taylor Allert placed 69th in 14.35, while junior Abigail Miyake took 73rd in 14.57.
The 800 meters featured a deep Haverford contingent, led by Jaycobs, who placed fourth overall in 2:18.73 while competing against a field that included Division I athletes. First-year Devyn Telleen finished ninth in 2:21.18 for a personal best, while senior Carly Priest placed 17th in 2:23.52, also a personal best. Poremba returned to place 39th in 2:28.96, Hausman was 58th in 2:35.13, and senior Sophia Furman added a 61st-place finish in 2:35.51.
In the 200 meters, sophomore Taniya Denson led the Fords with a personal-best 27.74 to place 57th overall. Tang followed closely in 58th at 27.76, while Allert finished 99th in 29.53. Sanders clocked 29.68 for 100th, Miyake ran a personal-best 30.13 for 108th, Rogow also posted a personal best of 30.23 for 109th, and Furman closed the event in 111th with a personal-best 30.35.
In the 400-meter hurdles, freshman Madison Lewis placed 20th in 1:14.18.
The 3000-meter steeplechase saw senior Alice Sappenfield turn in a strong performance, placing fourth overall in 11:42.17 with a personal best that moved her to 10th in Haverford history. Junior Poppy Chrisman followed in 13th with a time of 12:45.02.
Haverford capped the track portion with the 4x400-meter relay, where the quartet of Telleen, Priest, Berry, and Olivia D'Aulerio combined for a second-place finish in 4:08.31.
In the women's pole vault, sophomore Taniya Denson led the Fords with a fifth-place finish, clearing 3.05 meters (10-00.00), tying for fourth all-time in program history.
In the long jump, sophomore Beatrice Di Girolamo led Haverford with an 18th-place finish at 4.86 meters (15-11.50). Junior Grace Hannigan followed in fifth at 4.38 meters (14-04.50), while sophomore Zofi Sanders placed 46th with a mark of 4.19 meters (13-09.00). First-year Adriana Rogow rounded out the group in 47th at 4.18 meters (13-08.75), a season best.
In the hammer throw, senior Sarah Wilcher led the Fords with a 24th-place finish, throwing 36.53 meters (119-10.00). Sophomore Breona Pizzuta placed 33rd at 30.87 meters (101-03.00).
The Fords will return to action on Friday, April 3, at the Ursinus College Track & Field Festival, with competition beginning at 5 p.m.
