HAVERFORD, Pa. — The Haverford College baseball program welcomed back alumni and friends last weekend for its 17th annual Golf Classic and alumni game, continuing a tradition that unites past and present Fords while supporting the team's spring break trip and other key initiatives.
Fifty-seven golfers teed off Friday, Sept. 12, at Broad Run Golfer's Club in West Chester, Pa. The foursome of Kevin Morgan, William Bannard, Chris Oakley and Brian Gildea took first place with a 13-under-par 59. The team of Ben Furlong, Henry Furlong, Spencer Sohmer and Pat O'Shea also carded a 59 but finished runner-up following a scorecard tiebreaker. John Oh, Ryan Stephens and Kenny McAlpine rounded out the top three with a 9-under 63.
Ethan Goldstein earned closest-to-the-pin honors at 2 feet, 8 inches on the par-3 17th hole, while Oh captured the longest drive contest.
The weekend concluded Saturday at Kannerstein Field, where alumni returned to square off against the current Fords in a spirited matchup.
