HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford College senior Reza Eshghi has qualified for the 3,000 meters at the 2025 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships, with action set for Saturday, March 15, in Rochester, New York.
Each men's individual event features the top 20 declared student-athletes. The 3,000-meter final is scheduled for 5:40 p.m. Eastern time on Saturday, making it the penultimate men's event of championship weekend.
Eshghi enters as the fifth seed with a time of 8 minutes, 9 seconds in a deep field led by Lynchburg's Chasen Hunt (8:02.46) and Johns Hopkins' Emmanuel Leblond (8:03.40). With multiple runners from Wisconsin-La Crosse and other top programs in contention, the pace is expected to be fast, as it has been all season. A seasoned NCAA qualifier, Eshghi's championship experience and tactical awareness will be crucial in the final laps.
At last weekend's Centennial Conference Championships, the Lincoln, Massachusetts, native won the 3,000-meter title, completing a distance double after also winning the mile. He finished in 8:31.56, just ahead of classmate Peter LaRochelle (8:33.27).
In February, Eshghi set a Haverford school record in the 3,000 meters at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, competing against Division I runners. His time of 8:03.39 surpassed the previous record of 8:06.56, set by Charlie Marquardt in 2016.
