Haverford Postseason History
Haverford has historically established itself as one of the premier teams in the Mid-Atlantic and Centennial Conference. The program's extensive postseason history includes 20 appearances in the Centennial Conference Tournament and one in the Middle Atlantic Conference Playoffs. The pinnacle of their success came during a remarkable four-year dynasty when the Fords captured four consecutive Centennial Conference Championships from 2006 to 2009. This conference dominance has led to six total NCAA Tournament appearances (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2014, 2021). The Fords have advanced past the first round of the national tournament on five of those occasions, including victories in 2006, 2009, 2014, and 2021. The team's deepest run came in 2007, when they advanced to te NCAA third round. More recently, Haverford reached the conference final in 2021 before earning an At-large bid to the NCAA tournament, but suffered first-round tournament losses as the No. 5 seed in both 2023 and 2024.
Scouting the Fords
Haverford enters the postseason as the No. 3 seed, riding a five-match winning streak to finish the regular season at 18-8 overall and 7-3 in the conference. The Fords, who are hosting their first home playoff match since 2019, earned the high seed by winning a tiebreaker thanks to their recent landmark victory over top-seeded Johns Hopkins. The offense features an attack powered by Elizabeth Cella, who averages 3.41 kills per set, and Eliana Brown, who adds 2.64 kills per set. Cameryn DeBlecourt serves as the primary setter, distributing 5.01 assists per set.
Defensive Dominance
The Fords' greatest strength is on defense, as the team leads the Centennial Conference and ranks 58th nationally in digs per set. That unit is anchored by 2023 Rookie of the Year Kira Chaney, who was just named the conference's Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday. At the net, Fiona Moord (1.07 blocks/set) and Maggie Turner (0.98 blocks/set) are the team's top blockers.
Fords in the National Rankings
Haverford's defensive prowess is evident in the national statistics, as the team ranks first in the Centennial Conference and 58th in the nation in digs per set (17.23), while also leading the conference and ranking 29th nationally in total blocks (208.0). The team also ranks first in the conference for team attacks per set (36.41) and holds top-three conference ranks in overall match win-loss percentage (3rd), kills per set (3rd), and blocks per set (2nd). Individually, the Fords' net defense is led by Fiona Moord, who is first in the conference and 29th in the nation with 103 total blocks, and Maggie Turner, who ranks third in the conference with 94. On offense, Elizabeth Cella is a key contributor, ranking in the top five of the conference in kills per set (3.41), points per set (3.89), total kills (327), and total attacks (882)
Scouting the Red Devils
Dickinson enters the postseason after securing the final CC tournament spot with a clutch 3-0 "Win and In" regular-season finale victory against Washington College. The Red Devils finished the year 18-10 overall and 6-4 in conference play. Offensively, the team runs an efficient system, holding a statistical advantage over its opponents for the season in kills per set (12.1 to 11.1) and attack percentage (.207 to .160). The attack is overwhelmingly directed toward sophomore standout Mallie Thomas, who averages a formidable 4.06 kills per set, supported by 3.07 digs per set. Senior Amelia Kim, who led the team with eight kills in the finale, provides a strong secondary option, averaging 2.99 kills per set for the season. The offense is primarily quarterbacked by a dual-setter system featuring senior stalwart Camille Dofiles (5.23 assists/set) and sophomore Lora Flynn (4.67 assists/set). Defensively, libero Avery Butcher anchors the floor with a team-high 4.25 digs per set , while Emery Fishbach (0.90 blocks/set) and Eliette Whittaker (0.74 blocks/set) lead the efforts at the net.
Dancing with the Devils
In the regular-season meeting between the two squads, Dickinson edged Haverford in a five-set thriller, rallying to take the match 3-2 with set scores of 13-25, 25-15, 25-19, 20-25, and 15-12. Haverford seized all the early momentum by cruising to a dominant 25-13 win in the opening frame. The Red Devils responded by controlling the next two sets, winning 25-15 and 25-19, to take a 2-1 match lead. The Fords, led by Cella, forced a deciding frame by winning the fourth 25-20 and even took an 11-8 lead in the fifth. Dickinson stunned the hosts with a late 4-0 run to seal the 15-12 comeback victory in the final set.
