HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College women's cross country team has moved up to No. 5 in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Metro Region Rankings, marking the program's highest regional position since August 2022.
The Fords' rise comes after a strong showing at last weekend's Paul Short Run, where nine of the region's top-10 programs went head-to-head in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Rowan emerged as the region's top finisher in 20th place, followed by TCNJ (25th), Moravian (31st), Swarthmore (32nd), and Haverford (36th). The Fords' steady climb highlights the team's growing momentum as championship season approaches.
Haverford now ranks fifth in a competitive Metro Region field that includes Centennial Conference rival Swarthmore just ahead in fourth place. The top five features Rowan (No. 1), TCNJ (No. 2), Moravian (No. 3), Swarthmore (No. 4), and Haverford (No. 5). Other Centennial programs appearing in the top 10 include Muhlenberg, which checked in at No. 10 this week.
Regional Rankings are determined subjectively by one coach in each region, who weighs returning team strength and current season results to determine a rank order of squad potential. Only USTFCCCA member programs are eligible for ranking consideration.
The latest movement across the Metro Region reflects the impact of early October competition, with programs jockeying for position ahead of the pre-championship stretch.
Haverford returns to action on Saturday, October 18, at the Rowan Border Battle in Glassboro, New Jersey. The NCAA Metro Regional Championships are scheduled for Saturday, November 15, also at Rowan, when teams will battle for the region's automatic qualifying spot to nationals.
