CAMDEN, N.J. — The Haverford College men's soccer team (2-0-1) battled host Rutgers-Camden (1-0-1) to a scoreless draw Saturday evening at the Camden Athletic Complex in the Fords' second and final contest of the Cialella Soccer Classic.
With the result, Haverford extended its program-record unbeaten streak to 23 consecutive matches dating back to the start of the 2025 season. The Fords went 10-0-10 a season ago and have opened the 2026 campaign unbeaten through their first three contests.
Haverford controlled the attacking action for much of the opening half, outshooting the Scarlet Raptors 6-1 while earning all four corner kicks of the period. Charles Sharp generated the first two opportunities of the night, sending attempts wide in the ninth and 12th minutes. Josh Brown followed with a shot in the 17th minute before Thomas Vanni registered the first shot on goal of the contest in the 21st minute, forcing a save from Rutgers-Camden goalkeeper Aleksander Nycz.
Rutgers-Camden's lone attempt of the first half came from Nik Grello in the 23rd minute, but his shot sailed high. Haverford continued to search for the breakthrough as the half progressed, with Max Lovinger firing high in the 39th minute. Brown then put an attempt on frame in the 42nd, but Nycz made his second save of the period to send the teams into halftime scoreless.
The Fords continued to generate opportunities after the break. Chase D'Antonio unleashed a shot just off target only t seconds into the second half, while Vanni had another attempt blocked in the 65th minute as Haverford continued to spend time in the attacking third.
Haverford mounted its most dangerous push of the second half in the closing minutes. Austin Branch had an attempt blocked in the 85th minute before Vanni immediately followed with a shot that just steered past the far post. Less than two minutes later, Connor Gustafson put another attempt on frame, but Zubert made the stop to preserve the deadlock.
Rutgers-Camden made one final push in the 89th minute, earning its only corner kick of the night before Joseph Kennedy sent an attempt wide right. Neither side could find the deciding goal as the contest finished 0-0.
Haverford finished the evening with an 11-3 advantage in shots, including a 3-0 edge in shots on goal. The Fords also held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks and controlled 54 percent of the possession. Vanni led Haverford with three shots, with one on goal, while Sharp and Brown each registered two attempts.
Grayson Benson played all 90 minutes in goal and helped anchor a Haverford defense that did not allow a shot on target. The clean sheet was Haverford's second in three matches to begin the season.
The Fords now return to Haverford for their 2026 home opener, welcoming Penn State Abington to Walton Field on Tuesday, September 8 at 4:30 p.m.
