CAMDEN, N.J. — The Haverford College men's soccer team (2-0-0) continued its unbeaten run with a 3-1 victory over Stockton (0-2-0) on Friday afternoon at the Camden Athletic Complex as part of the Cialella Soccer Classic, an annual collegiate soccer event hosted by Rutgers-Camden and named in honor of former Scarlet Raptors athlete, coach and Athletic Director Edward Cialella.
The Fords scored twice in the second half to break a 1-1 halftime deadlock and extend their program-record unbeaten streak to 22 consecutive matches.
Haverford generated the first dangerous opportunity of the contest in the 13th minute, when Thomas Vanni stepped to the penalty spot. Stockton goalkeeper Dan Raivitch denied Vanni's attempt to keep the match scoreless. Charles Sharp soon provided the breakthrough, finding the back of the net at the 18:37 mark for his first goal of the season and a 1-0 Haverford advantage.
Stockton responded before the break. After a stretch that saw the Ospreys earn three corner kicks in quick succession, Owen Sugra equalized in the 35th minute to knot the contest at 1-1. The two sides entered halftime even after each registered four shots in the opening 45 minutes.
The Fords came out of halftime with renewed pressure and quickly regained the lead. Sho Nadata forced a save from Raivitch in the 49th minute before Haverford earned a corner in the 53rd. Moments later, Connor Gustafson converted off a feed from Vanni at 52:34, giving the Fords a 2-1 advantage. The goal was Gustafson's second in as many matches to begin the 2026 campaign, while Vanni picked up his first assist of the season.
Haverford continued to control the attacking action after taking the lead. Nadata forced another Raivitch save less than four minutes later, while Josh Brown sent an attempt wide. Chase D'Antonio later put another shot on frame in the 77th minute as the Fords searched for an insurance tally.
Vanni provided that insurance in the 82nd minute. The senior found the back of the net at 81:42 for his first goal of the season, extending Haverford's advantage to 3-1 and putting the contest out of reach.
The Fords finished with a 12-5 advantage in shots, including an 8-1 margin in the second half, and put seven attempts on goal compared to two for Stockton. Vanni paced Haverford with three shots, two on goal, a goal and an assist, while Nadata also registered three attempts with two on frame. Grayson Benson made one save to earn the victory in goal.
Haverford has now opened the season with consecutive victories while extending its unbeaten streak to 22 matches dating back to the start of the 2025 campaign. The Fords return to the Camden Athletic Complex on Saturday for a matchup with host Rutgers-Camden to conclude their weekend at the Cialella Soccer Classic.
