HAVERFORD, Pa. – The 25th-ranked Haverford College men's soccer team (7-0-1) continued its unbeaten start to the season with a commanding 5-0 victory over Penn State Brandywine (1-5) Wednesday evening at Swan Field, extending the Fords' program-record unbeaten streak to 28 consecutive matches.
The Scarlet and Black controlled the run of play throughout the night, finishing with a 41-1 advantage in shots and an 11-0 edge in corner kicks. Haverford put nine attempts on target while limiting Penn State Brandywine to just one shot over the full 90 minutes.
After controlling possession throughout the opening half hour, Haverford finally broke through at 30:16. Max Lovinger found the back of the net to open the scoring, giving the Fords a 1-0 advantage.
Just 65 seconds later, Charles Sharp doubled the lead. The forward struck at 31:21 for his team-leading eighth goal of the season, continuing his torrid start to the campaign and sending Haverford into halftime with a 2-0 advantage.
The Fords continued to apply pressure after the break, recording 24 shots and nine corner kicks in the second half alone. That pressure produced a third goal in the 66th minute, when Chase D'Antonio converted a feed from John Dowd at 65:05 for the first goal of his Haverford career.
D'Antonio needed just over four minutes to strike again. Dowd was once again at the center of the opportunity, with his initial effort striking the post before D'Antonio finished the ensuing chance at 69:26 to push the Haverford advantage to 4-0.
Haverford capped the scoring in the 87th minute. Dowd provided his third assist of the night, finding Aidan Lacy for his first goal of the season at 86:14 to complete the 5-0 victory.
Dowd's three-assist performance highlighted a balanced Haverford attack that saw four different players find the back of the net. D'Antonio recorded the first two-goal performance of his career, while Sharp added his eighth tally of the season. Austin Branch joined Sharp with five shots, while Dowd also attempted five shots in addition to his three assists.
The Fords were equally dominant defensively. Grayson Benson played the opening 45 minutes and made Haverford's lone save before Simon Bank and Will Ossmann combined to close out the second half without facing a shot on goal.
Haverford has now scored 21 goals through its first eight matches while allowing just two, with Wednesday's result extending the Fords' program-record unbeaten run to 28 consecutive contests dating back to September 2025.
The Fords return to Centennial Conference action on Saturday, Sept. 26, traveling to Baltimore, Md., for a 1 p.m. matchup against Johns Hopkins.
