HAVERFORD, Pa. — The Haverford College men's soccer team continued its historic run Saturday afternoon, shutting out Susquehanna, 2-0, at Swan Field to extend its program-record unbeaten streak to 25 consecutive matches.
Most notably, Haverford's 25-match run without a loss stands as the longest active unbeaten streak in NCAA Division III men's soccer. The streak dates back to the beginning of the 2025 campaign, when the Fords went 10-0-10 to complete the program's first unbeaten season since 1945. Haverford has now added a 4-0-1 start to the 2026 season, pushing the historic run to 25 consecutive contests without a defeat.
The Fords improved to 4-0-1 on the season behind first-half goals from Charles Sharp and Sho Nadata, while another dominant defensive effort produced Haverford's third consecutive clean sheet. Haverford controlled the afternoon with a commanding 22-2 advantage in shots, including a 15-0 margin in the opening half, while putting seven attempts on target.
Haverford wasted little time establishing control Saturday, generating the first four shots of the contest before breaking through in the 12th minute. Connor Gustafson nearly opened the scoring moments earlier, putting a header on frame that Susquehanna goalkeeper Finn Kramer turned aside.
The breakthrough arrived at 11:39. Josh Brown delivered a cross into the box that Sharp collected before firing his finish past Kramer and into the back of the net. The goal was Sharp's team-leading fourth of the season and gave the Scarlet and Black an early 1-0 advantage.
Just under six minutes later, the Fords doubled their advantage. Aiden Lee played a perfectly weighted pass along the ground into the path of Nadata, who finished the opportunity at 17:30 for the first goal of his Haverford career, giving the Fords a 2-0 cushion.
The Fords continued to pour forward throughout the remainder of the opening half. Sharp had another attempt blocked and later fired high, while Thomas Vanni and Max Lovinger each forced Kramer into saves. Jonathan D'Amour and Jack Bonner also generated chances as Haverford carried its 2-0 advantage into halftime after outshooting the River Hawks, 15-0.
Haverford remained on the front foot after the break. The Fords earned three second-half corner kicks and generated seven additional shots, with Sharp twice testing Kramer as Haverford looked for a third goal. Sharp finished with a game-high six shots, placing three on frame, while D'Amour registered four attempts and Gustafson added three.
At the other end, the Haverford defense once again gave its opponent little room to operate. Susquehanna managed just two shots over the full 90 minutes, with its lone attempt on goal arriving in the 67th minute. Grayson Benson turned away the chance to preserve the shutout and finished with one save.
The clean sheet was Benson's third consecutive shutout and Haverford's fourth in five matches to begin the season. The Fords have conceded just one goal through 450 minutes of action while outscoring their opponents, 12-1.
Saturday's contest also served as Haverford's annual Play With Pride game, celebrating Haverford's LGBTQ+ community members and supporting advocacy by and for the LGBTQ+ community in collegiate athletics.
Haverford returns to action Tuesday, Sept. 15, welcoming Delaware Valley to Walton Field for a 4:30 p.m. non-conference matchup. The contest will serve as Haverford's Red Zone Awareness Game in partnership with the Office of Health and Wellbeing Education.
